Can't get enough Half Man Half Biscuit... this was mentioned on the BBC obituary for Dickie!

RIP Dickie, thanks for the memories!

    RIP Dickie.

Another voice from childhood that's now gone. Happy and more relaxed days of sports TV coverage. Whilst I wouldn't deny that the actual action is covered far better now, I still much prefer the style of presenting from those days - Dickie Davies, David Coleman, Des Lynam etc.
ITV used to be open to a bit more light hearted coverage at times, such as when they used Jimmy Greaves Spitting Image puppet (voiced by Peter Brackley) to replace the original on Saint and Greavsie when he was Ill. And also this from World of Sport in 1977. Enjoy.

R.I.P Dickie. That's what I miss about Saturday afternoon entertainment. It shouldn't be all snooker, all racing, all football or all rugby. There should be a smattering for everyone. World of Sport was before my time but loved Grandstand.

Not sure it's suitable for posting on here (NSFW generally) but his memorable failure to pronounce "cup soccer" is worth another look on YouTube for old times sake!

    RIP Dickie.
