Does anyone know what year the photo of Oakwell with a red sky was taken?

The one sold when we were in administration to raise money for the club. It's us against Blackburn on a night but I don't know which season it actually is. Any ideas?

Is it? I thought the stand was still called the ira stand back then though?

Dunno but the photographer of this pic apparently managed to get the sun rising in the South West - amazing work!

I know John Dennis had his flaws, but I don't think he ever brokered a sponsorship deal with the IRA?

I don't remember it being Blackburn but I know the photo.

If it was Blackburn, it's 8th November 2000, we lost 2-1, and we would have got a sunset when the match started, due to the time of the year. I remember which players were in the photo and it fits with the team that was selected that night.

I disagree with it being at the time of administration. That was at the start of the 2002-03 season. We didn't play Blackburn that season or again until 2012.

It wasn't taken when we were in administration it was sold when we were in it so the game was before. The only player I remember in the photo is morgan I think? And I'm far too lazy to go upstairs to check so I'll take your word for it.

There's a chance it isn't Blackburn but the away team are in blue and white quarters so I assume it must be?

I'm not familiar with the photo, but if it is blue and white quarters, could it be Bristol Rovers? We played them in the FA Cup in early 1999. I'm thinking Blackburn shirts being halves rather than quarters?

Morgan is definitely in the photo. It's taken from the North Stand, we're defending that North Stand and Morgan has his back to us. Along with the rest of our back 4. But if you're saying it's during administration, it's not Blackburn. We didn't play them that season. We'd been relegated and were a division below them. And, unusually, we played very few evening fixtures the season we were in Administration. Cheltenham at home in August when it would have been bright sunshine. Blackpool in September, again too early in the year for the red sky. And then Tranmere in March. And that's it. Morgan then left in the summer.

Found this online. I think it's the FA Cup 3rd round game v Blackburn in early 2002. We lost in replay after a 1-1 draw in this game. Barnard scored a worldie with his right foot, I think Blackburn scored in the last minute and it might have been Hignett who scored for them.[IMG]

Got to say, it's a cracking photo.

I sat in the North Stand for a couple of years during that period, and that hasn't been photoshopped, it actually looked like that.

Would the Ponte have been called the Van Damme Stand at that time?
