The forecast on Thursday is even worse - so they've basically got Wednesday to sort it.

Oh dear. Maybe they'll manage just to do a patch job. I want @BarnsleyBomber to get to experience the hospitality!

Especially if it was Luca Connell - I'd be gutted.

Where to start with this one
    “Past it’s Sell by date”
How do you work that out. It’s cladding not structural and I expect is easily fixable.
You can argue with reasonable validity it shouldn’t have happened but it’s Harald a sign the stand is falling down

    Smaller stadium?
Why we had a fairly full stadium last home game. What size stadium would you want us to build. One we fill if we are strugglingin the 3rd division. I’ve seen crowds from as low as 2000-3000 in our 4th division days to sell out in the Prem. I’m not sure even if we built a new stadium we would want a much smaller one

Depending on which bit if cladding it is, with the car park, hospitality and stand closed, I guess it's not on the roof. Otherwise the game would be off.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to be blaming the new owners given the stadium has been slowly decaying right the way through the Cryne/BMBC ownership, and that includes the time when one of those parties also owned the football club.

And who's legal responsibility is the upkeep of the building being leased?

I haven’t paid a huge amount of attention, but isn’t that in dispute ?

Just as a bit of feel good factor is back in the club we get this. You couldn't make it up, I woke this morning and thought it was April 1st.
This is what happens when you cut costs to the bone and don't maintain the ground properly. Embarrassing......

I don't see how it really can be in dispute can it? It will be written in black and white on the lease.
The fact that the club have previously mentioned something like a million pounds a year maintenance costs for the stadium that they've had to pay suggests that they are responsible too.

I'm also pretty sure someone posted a copy of the lease on here when the west stand closed but I can't find it anymore

This from the council as landlords states it is the club as tenants who are responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the ground

    https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/798720/response/1910392/attach/html/2/FOI3496 Oakwell Response.pdf.html

"The current lease provides for the Landlord (or its representative) the right to enter the site to determine whether the Tenant (Barnsley FC) is complying with its leasehold obligations – namely to keep in a good state of repair and compliant with relevant legislation."

    Also from the lease:

"Barnsley FC occupy the Oakwell Football site including the ground and associated ancillary space by way of a 25 Year Full Repairing and Insuring (FRI) lease from OCAL Limited. Barnsley MBC are 50% owners of OCAL.
The lease dated 26th November 2003 between Pinco 2024 Limited, (Registration no. 04916500), now Oakwell Community Assets Limited and Barnsley Football Club 2002 Limited, (Registration no. 4573250), now Barnsley Football Club Limited makes provision for you as Tenant to insure the premises and maintain and keep them in good and substantial repair and compliant with relevant statutory requirements. "
