Just realised you said St Helens, I was thinking of Edward Sheerian where most of the school scenes were shot. Was the shower scenes shot at St Helens? Dai Bradley made a visit to ES before it shut and commented on the bend in the goal posts so I assumed that was were the football scenes were shot.

What a wonderful bloke, David is, by the way. He was over the moon to be invited into the club, and was well up for reenacting the sketch. It was his idea to go full Casper and wear oversized shorts and shirt. And absolutely unbelievable that he did the goalpost stuff.

But just a really nice bloke. And a huge fan of the club. He was telling us about certain players, certain comments made by Duff etc, that you'd only know if you're a fan.

As a Barnsley lad, huge fan of Kes the film, it was surreal to meet him.

And what a sport Michael was. We asked him if he'd seen the film - he had - we asked if he'd take part - no problem.

Think you are getting a bit mixed up - all the school scenes were shot at St Helens. It did change its name to Edward Sheerian after I left in the 80's. Stayed that name before it closed

It did after I left in 86. Think it was late 80's early 90's possibly

Sorry mate didn't know that, was ES when he started teaching and it moved to a new build in Carlton. He said the goal posts were still bent, if they were ok when you went then some "wag" must have replicated the bend later. Some little tinkers knocking abart.
