Lol - you were always going to get the wrong end of reality. The extra people who tuned in were rubber neckers looking at a car crash. I tuned in for 5 minutes to see how bad it was then turned it off.
“So long as the proles continued to work and breed their other activities were without importance…. the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbours, films, football, beer and above all gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.” 1984.
As long as they have the highlights and the theme song, I’m good - I don't mind Lineker one bit but I don’t need the presenters
You should have a word with Chris Whitty or Patrick Vallance? That's the same logic as the doubling of cases graph!
The BBC impartiality thing is a sham. Nobody is impartial, least of all the political journalists, who you would expect to vote and have a view. At least when you're watching the football, you know who the pundits support, and can listen to them knowing that context. What you want, is not for people to be impartial, but for them to be objective. And the tweet in question from Lineker, was objectively correct. I suspect that if he'd been taken off MOTD because of a tweet that equated language used by left wing to communism, then the same tory MPs that have been talking about how great MOTD is without punditry, would be screaming about cancel culture and threats to freedom of speech. It would appear that speech is only free if it's right wing speech.
clarkson said whatever he wanted. He was sacked for punching someone at work over a sandwich. Pretty much sackable in any job
