Despite opening up the betting as narrow favourites, the bookies now have Wycombe as outsiders for victory at the weekend despite their victory over Bristol Rovers last night. Presumably the bookies see the extra days rest as an advantage when we travel down to Wycombe at the weekend.

Yesterday's win was Wycombe's second in the 5 games they've played post Gareth Ainsworth (drawn 1 lost 2). Prior to his departure to QPR, Ainsworth had the Chairboys on a run of 2 defeats in 14 games, and right on the coat tails of the play off teams. And whilst their form has dipped slightly since Matt Bloomfield took over, they have bettered the form of Bolton and Derby to stay in contention with a game in hand over the trotters.

At Adams Park, Wycombe are difficult to beat. Only Sheffield Wednesday have managed 3 points in Wycombe in the last 11 league encounters there. Despite a slow start to the season, they soon went on a good run of results, but have dropped points at home against some of the softer sides in the league (Cambridge and Morecambe to name 2). 3 of their 4 home defeats came quite early in the season.

This will be only the 5th meeting between us at Adams Park. We have a record of 2 wins, a draw and a defeat since our first visit in 2003. Cauley Woodrow, Daryl Dike, Isiah Rankin, Mike Sheron and Bruce Dyer are the previous Barnsley goalscorers away at Wycombe.

Our current away record now stands at 1 league defeat in 9, including 5 victories. At Oakwell, we were well and truly bullied by Wycombe; Gareth Ainsworth's side applied their trademark tactic of scoring early, and then making the game as difficult as possible for the opposition. Back then, Michael Duff's tenure was in its infancy, and it was one of several results which have become almost non existent as the season has gone on.

The battling performance at home to Plymouth last week proves that we're much more physical than we were when we last faced Wycombe. And although I still think they'll prove to be a stern test, I can't see past our current form. If we score first, I feel we'll win comfortably. Therefore I'm going for 0-2 with Phillips and Norwood on the scoresheet in the first half.

Cheers Archey, cracking preview as always. Hard to call this one, so I’m going for an away win by 3 or 4 goals.. :)

I'm normally a little pessimistic about fixtures like this, but Duff seems to be right at the top of his game at the moment. They'll have looked back at the previous meeting and addressed where it went wrong.

As I am sure we all do, I really appreciate these pre-match previews and always read with interest.

It's our turn to bully them this time so I will go 3-0 to us. Cole with a toe poke in the first half; Phillips with a trademark 30 yarder just after half time; Bobby Thomas with a late towering header to kill off their hopes after piling on the pressure in the second half but floundering against our rock-like defence.

Did I mention I was a time traveller? The thousand-strong away following loved it :)

Think this is potentially our hardest game so far. They absolutely bullied us at Oakwell.
A win would be fantastic but I'd take a draw to maintain the 6 point gap.
