3 point deduction on it's way, after a suspended punishment last time. Just a question of whether to apply it this season or next. But they will probably have bigger problems than that.
There is a certain irony that Wigan file their accounts under Phoenix 2021 Their one year of trading saw them have an operational loss of £10m, slightly reduced by a £2m profit on player trading, £13m payroll based on £8m of turnover. Another sustainable basket case... A new owner acting just like the old owner!
Have a look at their forum, the general consensus is a points deduction for cheating is only right . EXCEPT in their case cos it’s not their fault and and fine would only punish the fans and club more , couldn’t make it up !
.........."I think points deduction for cheating, like trying to gain advantage on the pitch by dodging FFP rules (see Derby and Sheff Wed) is right. But the issue is we have had owners screw the club over and then the club gets punished for the wrong doing that already hurt us. I don't know what the answer is but docking us points when it hurt us rather than gave us any benefit seems backwards"........
What makes the delay in paying wages surprising is the fact the owners injected £8m on 10 February, little more than a month ago. Since taking over the club 2 years ago the owners have put in £16.5m in equity to the club. It’s like all that went before has been forgotten and normal service has been resumed.
Excellent news, and let's have some more of it please!. It couldn't happen to a more deserving set of morons.
It's comedy gold. There are some of them making the argument that cheating on the pitch by breaching FFP should be punished but it doesn't apply to them because it's their owners that have done them over. Again. Yet other posters are saying that they threw the kitchen sink at getting promoted last season with a huge and unsustainable wage bill.
