I'm hoping that the club will be organising loads of coaches like they did for Wigan that time. I expect that we will get a huge allocation if we want one, and MK is a bit tricky by train. Would make sense for the club to get onto this early.
2:38 on the train with decent connections (Tahn -> Sheffield -> Tamworth-> MK), 3 hours return. £117 to book in advance though £15 cheaper to go from Doncaster - on the same train from Sheffield!
Yeah, I’ve done that Tamworth route before - it’s a bit faffy and that price is way out of my price range! Think we had to change at Derby and Tamworth. Bus or bust for me.
I couldn't believe how circuitous it is to get to by train, even from Lincoln, compared with how easy it is to drive there.
Slightly cheaper to go via Birmingham New Street rather than Tamworth, going that way you can do it for £85 (buying separate returns for each change) for an adult ticket Barnsley 10:13 - 10:35 Sheffield Sheffield 10:55 - 12:06 Birmingham New St. Birmingham New St. 12:36 - 13:56 MK. MK 17:26 - 18:45 Birmingham New St. Birmingham New St. 19:03 - 20:19 Sheffield Sheffield 20:35 - 21:02 Barnsley Barnsley / Sheffield £6.70 (Rt) Sheffield / Birmingham New St. £51.80 (Rt) Birmingham New St. / MK £26.50 (Rt) =£85
Just done some more tinkering and you can save £18.90 on the Sheffield to Birmingham section just by buy your tickets from Sheffield to derby and then derby to Birmingham, it's the same trains and you don't need to even get off at Derby just show the tickets it's a nifty loop hole and means instead of paying £51:80 you get it for £32:90 (Sheff - Derby £13:90 Rt) (Derby - Birm £19:00 Rt) This would bring it down to £66:10
I’ve enjoyed the past few games, yes and I think things are looking better at the club in general. However, i have now got into the habit of not feeling obliged to go. I’m more than happy to miss games if there is something else to do. That’s a huge shift as in years gone by I just wouldn’t miss a home game unless I was ill or giving birth! I haven’t been to an away game all season - again, unheard of in years gone by. It’s still my club, but the days of me running my entire diary around a fixture list are gone.
