There were photos of him playing golf and not being with the squad at the time when he was injured (iirc)
It's reported that the fee was 2m. Nathan Jones said in an interview that they broke their transfer fee for him, so we know it was somewhere between 1.4m(?) and 2m. Given the various factors involved, his age, injury record, contract, desire to leave and our financial position, it's not bad. Not great, but not bad. If there was a queue of Championship clubs after him, he would've signed for someone else, on higher wages. He's proving a very good buy for Luton, scoring more this season than he did for us in total. Hopefully we have a sell on clause, and they make a good profit on him in the summer. Could do with decent sized moves for Brown, Pinnock, and Holgate as well.
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2022/july/morris-departs/ No mention of a sell on clause. We were that far up the creek without a paddle that we probably couldn't get our usual 15% interest retained in their future. I think we'd have mentioned it if we had.
https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/23859/reds-focus-on-new-contracts-after-a-very-good-window "The transfer fees for Helik, Brittain and Morris are all understood to be between £1-2million each, while El-Ahmad confirmed the Reds have sell-on clauses for all three."
Top top player. Three 1-0 wins and three excellent Carlton goals. No injuries this season. The way we are playing he might make the automatics for the prem. The Kenny in the premier league, we will be deemed to unfit for the prawn sandwich brigade. Worst town in Britain to boot
Rubbish narrative in my mind. More chance that the club told him he wasn't being picked as he was one of the few saleable assets we had and couldn't risk him being injured. Same goes for Helik if I remember correctly. It happens at lots of clubs.
You had our pants down for Morris, Pelly. £2million is an absolute steal. He’d have been cheap at double that. Hope he takes you up. Oh and we did warn you that Woodrow had been flattering to deceive for a year or so… All the best
They didn't "have our pants down" though. That suggests they pulled the wool over our eyes. They didn't. We knew we'd have to take the best offer we could get. We did just that. Luton did very well out of it and we got the best we could in the situation we were in.
Seems like we are both on a fantastic run playing excellent football. Woodrow has not done much but is our only back up strikers. Fortunately our front two have been injury free so he had not been needed except to see out games Good luck
