Very off topic I know but just a little desperate and looking for any help possible. My current employer is considering not renewing my contract. Was told a few weeks ago that it may not get extended and a meeting is in for this coming Monday to formally discuss it etc. but I just don't have a good feeling and think it is going to be them telling me it is not getting renewed. It could not have come at a worse time for me really as me and my partner have just rescued a second dog a month or so ago as I was working full time from home and seemed secure in my job at that time. I am also getting married in May with things still to pay off etc. I have been applying for jobs for a few weeks via indeed and so on but no had any luck as of yet. Was hoping/wondering if anyone knew of anyone hiring for IT based roles that they could point me in the direction of? I have Service desk and IT project experience and more than willing to learn etc. At this stage I would take non IT roles if people were willing to offer them etc. I just can't really afford to be jobless with a wedding and bills to pay etc. I know I am probably not in a position at the moment to be too picky but it would be preferable to have something where I can work at home most of the time if not full time due to the dogs etc. but I don't mind a day or two in the office if needed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Another here but lower salary: https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/xi/direct_apply/?vac_ref=917769884 I'd have a look at all public sector and Higher Education vacancies directly i.e. West and South Yorks Police, local councils, NHS trusts, Sheffield Unis as they always have a big IT support workforce. Hope i'm not teaching you to suck eggs, just trying to help
Thank you. I will trawl through them all tonight and tomorrow and see what I can find. I left my NHS job last year to move to my current employer ironically and clearly the risk didn't seem to pay off......
Could you get back in touch and see if they have anything or know of anything? Worth a shot if you didn’t burn any bridges.
Will do. Took your advice and looked and public sector places and found one of interest at SY police which I am filling my application in for now.
I am still in touch with people from my old department but there isn't anything going there at the moment unfortunately. The other issue is the travel, I left there as I moved out of Barnsley with my better half and my commute to the office was taking my around an hour and half a day to get into office. I can't really afford to and don't particularly want to be going back to a commute like that again.
Sorry to hear you might be losing your contract. I'm a contractor myself and understand the temporal nature of the work can be stressful at times - hopefully you'll find another role soon. I might be stating the obvious - so apologies in advance - but my advice is: Utilise LinkedIn as much as possible to reach out to your network and tell people you're looking for work (I've found a few new contracts and opportunities this way). Try Jobserve.co.uk - this used to be my go to job search site for IT related roles. Reach out to Recruitment Agencies and see if you can utilise them to assist in your job search. Good luck.
Hi mate, I'm a retired IT bloke but still get occasional emails/texts from recruiters. I'd be happy to PM any I get to you. I had both an email and a text today so I'll send them to you now. Hope you get something sorted.
