Tut n Shive, Voudou, Mustang Sally’s, Blue Room, Vaping Goose, Bar One, Peels Bar. And the Theatre has been named a few things that didn’t last long.
Used to work in the Co op at top of Wellington Street '84-'86ish, from Google maps its all been redeveloped by the looks. Used to be a rough ole pub opposite, looks to be where an Istanbul Kitchen and Bar is now. Vaguely remember some visiting fans throwing the pool table thru the pub windows then picking it up from out the road and chucking it through the Co op windows. Newcastle?
Sure it was a few weeks after they replaced the windows, a shoplifter made a dash for the door, thought the door would swing open when he hit it at full pelt, but it was the half that was locked shut and he dived straight through the plate glass door, nearly severing his arm in the process. Eeeeee, happy memories........
Absolutely! Though the shipwreck was resurfaced and patched up for many more tours before finally retiring for good I now sail in calm waters
Yep it was Newcastle. I was working in town that day and the store manager locked all the doors until after kick off. also working that day the shoplifter ran thru the plate glass door...memories eh..
I had my ears pierced in a little place on Wellington Street. Took me and my dad ages to find it as we weren’t expecting it just to have a door that let upstairs, rather than a shopfront.
I don't know what Dazzles is/was! I just remember that it was my 11th birthday as my mam had said I could get them pierced when I turned 11 and she was prone to changing her mind about things so I wanted to get them done asap. She said when I got home that she only said I could because she didn't think I would be brave enough.
Haha she underestimated you there didn't she. Dazzles was the shop just outside the entrance to the outdoor market. I think it might have turned into a Gregg's eventually or been next door to it? On the outer wall of littlewoods
