I was thinking the same. Surely they couldn't even request for it to be postponed before at least 3 players were called up?
Lincoln City in 2020 were refused a postponement despite having 3 players called up. The reason being 1 player was a squad player and hadn’t played for Lincoln that much. Seems rules are very ‘fluid’.
Isn't it the EFL that have had the wool pulled over their eyes (again) here? If a team gets to three call-ups then they apply to the EFL for a postponement. Unfortunately in this case when given Leigh's name the EFL didn't perform the basic and obvious check to see if the Jamaica squad had actually been announced! Basic competence and between the EFL and Ipswich there needs to (but won't) be some kind of come-back/punishment. I notice too that the Burton v Cambridge game was only called off today when the relevant international squads were announced so there evidently was no need to rush to call it off last week either.
A few views of ipswich fans "That we didn’t confirm who the third man away was made me think MA was pulling a fast one, and doing all he could to get that game off." "....the rest of the top 6 are not going to be happy, although obviously they won't kick up about it unless it has a material effect on the outcome of the league. Which, given how tight it is, it really could. We'd better have an absolutely water tight case or this could get very messy" "Well at the risk of 50million down arrows , I still say we should never have cancelled the game. Our squad is big Enough and have enough quality in depth to have played this game. " "Ridiculous we were able to cancel without confirmation. We’ve had a let off here potentially." "you can’t help but feel that Barnsley are within their rights to ask questions of the EFL here" "It’s been handled very oddly."
As I said in the other thread on this...... Bit ironic they get the game called off cos they didn't fancy it, using a player they never use getting called up to Jamaica. He then doesn't actually make the squad, but one of ours, who we also hardly ever use does.
I don't get why they'd want the game postponing though. They're 10 unbeaten with 6 wins and 7 clean sheets in a row.
Ah but the football league get all teary eyed over former European championships being down in league 1. They don't care about the Lincoln City's of this world.
I guess if they could be 4 players down and get the chance to postpone their toughest remaining fixture, it's a no brainer. Also probably think kicking the can down the road puts more pressure on us
Of the 11 league games he has been involved in he has only started 2 of them. 1 back in August and the other on the 2nd January . Key player.
Ipswich are saying that because Jamaica told him he was in the squad before they announced the squad and even sent him written proof that he was in the squad that he wasnt in, along with written travel plans for the game he wasnt going to be part of (anyone thinking Jamaica were in on it and helping ipswich out with dodgy 'proof'?) they were right to cancel the game and had sent all that proof to the FA for the postponement. What I want to know is what does it have to do with the FA? Isn't it a football league game?
I have it from an Ipswich fan that they knew Sam Morsy wasn’t in the Egypt squad over a week ago, (he told us a week ago) and their CEO has just played games with the real information to get the game pulled. We should demand the 3-points in order to put pressure on the EFL to reschedule the fixture. I’m damn annoyed as I have a group of ten coming down for the game from Newcastle. Mainly 15/16 yr olds - so at School. We can hardly do that on a Tuesday night.
Fact of the matter is, they shouldn’t have been allowed to postpone until three call ups were confirmed, which they clearly weren’t. Screw up by the efl or fa I reckon
Well there you go. That's why they fabricated a 3rd call up. They don't fancy us without their first 11. Can't blame them, but thems the rules. Should be given 3-0 to us.
