And who would you pay with the rest of the money. Hes a very good player, no doubt but hes on 20-25k a week in League 1. You could pay for 5 very good league 1 lakers for that. I was saying to @Chef Tyke on the way home, wages are like a badge of honour to some of these clubs. When Winnall went across the M1, he was on c5k per week, they paid him 19k. There wasn't loads of clubs wanting to pay him that money, he would have taken £10k to play for a bigger club, with a bigger fan base and more chances. Loads of big clubs do the same, its flipping mental.
he’s misleading you about this alleged gangbang mate. Basically just showing off to appeal to your macho side. We have moved in together, and have a pet cat called George.
Both Teams showed what they are capable in attack an defence, Bannon was the best player on the field t'neight [opinion ] an that Iorfa ran him close, we won we got 3 points, an that's all that matters, brilliant, just fooookin brilliant, i pick an choose mi home games, an by god am i glad i came t'neight.
Better team my ar$e. They had the long ball tactic and... er.. well that's it? We had strength in depth, pass and move, finishing, endurance, better strikers and an infinitely better goalkeeper, to name but a few
Commentary said Iorfa had a shocker today mate, I didn't reckon he had a cracker either. Statistically lost the ball more than any other player, big lad though, dangerous in our box
I thought on balance and gauging the swings and nuances of the game a draw would have been a 'fair' result. There was a period in the middle where Wed were imposing themselves but in the last 10 mins BFC were playing better stuff regardless of the goals. The fact we won is a bonus. 4 goals against top of the league is very good.
Why bring money into it. Bannon wouldn’t come to us if we paid him 50 k a game he’s at a MASSIVE club anyways. Just saying that for football talent he would be the only player from SWFC who I would take at this level from them
For all their so called superiority, I can only recall one save of note that Isted had to make. They had two moments of decent play, to get in behind and get their goals, but the rest of it was a barrage of crosses into the box, while Flint and Iorfa took turns to try and find the Metrodome car park. We should've brought Watters on earlier imo, as Cole was spent. And if they'd equalised earlier, he probably would've come on earlier and I suspect the end result would've been the same, a Barnsley win. As Duff said after the game, we were in protective mode once we got 2 ahead, when we were looking for goals, we scored them.
As I`ve stated elsewhere our defence/goalie let in 2 goals - theirs let in 4. Offensively we scored 4 and their attackers scored just 2. How does that equate to them being the "best team"/
We've all seen better teams lose matches. Strikers a bit off, keepers inspired, then a break away goal or a pen to nick it. I've never seen the better team ship 4 goals before and didn't last night either.
I don't think there was much in it to be honest. Wednesday had a good spell in the middle of the game and were on the front foot but Barnsley were getting stronger in the last 15 minutes and saw out the game better. I think a draw or a marginal Barnsley win would have been about right. The fact that the scoreline looks quite comprehensive against the top side is a bonus.
For me, we were the best team and deserved to win. We played the better football, we scored more goals (all quality finishes, too) and we were fitter & stronger at the end. They were league leaders and on a long, unbeaten run, so common sense dictates there would be a period in the game when they would be on top. However, we stuck to the task and rode it out, then went for the jugular. Well done, lads. A thoroughly deserved victory on a night that will live long in the memory.
