For me he’s our best centre forward, he isn’t the top scorer ok but he doesn’t leave the opposition defence alone. He’s the one in our squad that opposition defences will hate playing against. But with him getting himself booked when going off last night (which whilst needless, I’ll forgive as I could see that was a corner from the East upper at the north end so I can understand his frustration, especially given the occasion), he finds himself on nine bookings. The amnesty for ten bookings comes in after 37 games - meaning if he were to be booked against Exeter, he’d receive a two match suspension. With that in mind, would you rest him, keep him on the bench and only use him if required; or would you ignore the potential suspension, play him and take the risk?
Agree, he’s absolutely brilliant. I’d play him - integral to how we play. Credit to Duffy for getting the best out of him.
He told the officials to F Off at least half a dozen times after being booked, easily loud enough and close enough for them to hear, and he was booked for telling them to F Off. We were very lucky he wasn't sent off and the substitute told he couldn't go on.
No don’t think so, Kitching has nine but two were in the same game so don’t count. Kane has 8. A few on seven. Only Norwood at risk as far as I can see.
He was clever enough to step off the pitch whilst abusing the lino though.. could still have been red carded but the sub had completed by then!
Could see why tedic replaced Norwood last night as he was knackered but he struggled to get into the game when he came on.
Only way to completely avoid the risk is not playing him at all - which I doubt Duff will do. Just have to hope he can behave himself against Exeter, and stay out of the book.
I actually thought that was going to happen. People talk about experience but that was schoolboy stuff.
Funny you should say this when it was Cole last night who got the goal and then worked his ******** off for the 2nd to get the assist. So I think the Wendy defenders will be glad to see the back of him. They have both won me over I thought Cole could score at this level but was lazy. I thought Norwood looked like he had the fitness of a darts player when he 1st came but they have both proved me wrong and been a big part of how we play. Long may that continue hope we can go up and give Norwood a new deal let him have a crack at the championship.
I can totally appreciate his frustration when he was subbed because prior to that, the ball deflected off the their keeper for a corner. Not the 1st time the linesman got it wrong as there was also a blatant foul on Watters which went unpunished
Play him if he fits the game plan. Worry about suspensions as they happen. Dont change a team if you don't want to. Someone else would come in and do a job in any case.
I have seen Exeter play this season and their back three comprises three who are old and leggy in Sweeney, Aimson and Grounds - all in their thirties, so Cole is our quickest forward and you would either put him on to start and get him to run their defence, or have to bring on as an impact sub. Personally, I would start him with Tedic and have Norwood and Watters to bring on later.
BTW Dmitri Mitchell is Exeter's left wing back/winger. He is a sprint champion, so very quick and can deliver a good centre. Williams will need to keep a careful eye on him. Jervani Brown is suspended by the club because of a misdemeanour in the city centre, so we needn't worry about him. Stansfield is still raw, but scored twice at Oakwell. Nombe can score, but is pretty harmless. We really should win this one.
