Yeah, that's what they're saying. Thing is, you can't moan about that just cos it's gone tîts up again. You knew they were dodgy all along, but it was fine when they were spending money you knew they didn't have.
Usually when something like this happens it's the fans you feel sorry for. For some unknown reason I cant bring myself to feel sorry for them though
Exactly. Especially all the **** they threw our way at the time. Yet they have basically started again and done the exact same. Buy players they can’t afford.
Maybe they saw Direby taking the pi*ss like that, and thought they'd try and do the same.. again!. And their fans can sod off, they deserve every bit of what's happening here. The egg chasing bumchummers!!.
Was a decent club when they hit division 4 & competed with us. The Whelan years were never gonna last. Time is up on their dream. There will be some fans from back in the day I feel sorry for a bit. Most though not. You can't run a football club like this & not expect to eventually hit rock bottom.
I remember going to Springfield Park back in 78/79. It was a muck tip of a ground but they'd fought their way out of non league fair and square. Since Whelan they've become a right fur coat no knickers club with a lot of fans with absolutely no self awareness. No sympathy for the majority of em.
Says a lot about some people. The players are working and bit being paid, one (with a history of mental health problems) has spoken out about it and the reaction from a minority on here is that he's an idiot, trying to be clever and shouldn't be using words when he's got money. So ******* what? He's a person who is working and bit being paid. He's got every right to complain and could be using much worse words.
Seems like their owner has said they'll have to start living within their means. Only took em twenty odd years.
This. I posted the quote because it highlights that there are people's livelihoods being affected. Yes, he may be a millionaire but the majority of people at the club won't be and they're also not being paid. The fans? Meh. Karma can be a bitch. Peterborough have never forgiven us for the fact that Huddersfield refused to attack and allowed us to play keep ball when they got relegated.
Hope this isn't referring to my comments. I absolutely support Caulker for speaking up. I was pointing out that his bringing the concept of 'oppression' into the mix isn't the wisest move. It's something very different, semantically. Exploitation is the world. He and all unpaid Wigan employees are fully right to speak up about their being exploited.
That player should probably be asking his agent why they agreed to go there in January this year, but players get what they are owed out of football contracts it’s usually everyone else that doesn’t.
They have been paid now by the looks of things. https://wiganathletic.com/news/2023/march/24/an-open-letter-from-chairman-talal-al-hammad/
Interesting piece in the Alan Nixon column today. In short... They will only have 9 senior players in contract at the end of the season. Most on high wages and not even figuring in the side or likely to in the future. Defenders Jason Kerr and Jack Whatmough are on longer deals but troubled by injuries. 19 players out of contract including top scorer Will Keane. Tom Naylor and Charlie Wyke on lucrative deals.
