The bookies have us as slight 17/11 favourites in our first visit to Exeter for 42 years. Glyn Riley scored the only goal amidst a 20 game unbeaten run in the 80/81 promotion season.

Exeter's return to the third tier for the first time since 2012 has gone reasonably well so far. Despite a brief flirtation with the top 6 earlier in the season, they currently sit 11th, 15 points behind the play off places with a game in hand. When this fixture was initially meant to be played, Exeter were 8 points behind us, they're now 23 points behind us, but will certainly be playing league 1 football next season which I'm sure would have been the aim in August.

They had a bit of a hangover from the departure of Matt Taylor to Rotherham, and have struggled for consistency. However they've hit a vein of good form which has seen them win their last 3 games at home, including a 5-0 victory against Accrington yesterday. They're unbeaten in 4 at home in the league, and have been defeated just once in 8 at St James Park (3 wins, 4 draws).

Their overall form is equally inconsistent, where they've not managed back to back wins since new years day. Since the turn of the year, Exeter have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 5 in the league. This despite playing mainly teams below them in the league. They do have a tough run in and could have an influence over who gets promoted, with all of the top 7 still to play.

There doesn't appear to be any sort of pattern to Exeter's results, the times they generally score or conceded, so it's a difficult game to give any logic to.

On paper, it's a difficult game to predict, but given our current run of 12 unbeaten, 2 defeats in 21, 6 undefeated away, and 1 away defeat in 10, I fancy us to nick a narrow win. I'm going for 0-1 with Phillips back on the scoresheet, after a goal drought of 2 games. You reds!!!

Tough night in Devon, but I’m feeling a sneaky 2-1 win for us

Well that’s a lucky omen then, considering we’re currently in the middle of another 20 game unbeaten run in another promotion season!

Another 1-0 win for us then. Who’s this team’s Glyn Riley? Probably Max Watters, so him with the winner.

Seriously though, if we win on Tuesday I reckon we’ll finish in the top 2.

We’ve not been convincing in the last 2 I’d say. Think we won 3 on the trot before that, scoring 9 goals along the way.
Sounds like Exeter were very impressive yesterday. Think it’s a very tough game.

I'm going 1-1. if we could sneak a win though, that would put MASSIVE pressure on the piglets going to cheltenham.

Still remember Riley’s goal and the wild celebrations on the terrace that day. Let’s hope for similar on Tuesday

I remember when it was a narrow strip behind the goal for away fans and may not have even been covered. I was down there on the train from Salisbury to see that all-conquering Hunter side marching to promotion. The 1-0 win was never in doubt. I think we’ll do it again but at least we’ll not be second behind Rotherham this time.

3-0 Barnsley. Had a good week's rest. Back at it. Win each half and don't give them an inch

They won't get the opportunities against our defence that they got yesterday so I see Istead getting a clean sheet and somebody will find the back of their net so 1-0 to Barnsley.

This is not goong to be an easy place to go and get a win.

    Should we win-

we would be 5 points behind Plymouth with a game in hand.

    3 points behind Wednesday.

    level on points with Ipswich.
