Given the very poor start we made to te seaon, we now find ourselves in very decent position.. We still have possibility of automatic but I think we all should be happy with play off slot.
Play-Off Spot isn't enough now based on what we've already achieved. I'd have been happy to make the Play-Offs at Christmas but having beaten all the main protagonists since then I'd be disappointed if we aren't promoted. The Play-Offs are a lottery and past form goes out of the window. I'd only like them if we won them. Whilst there's hope of automatic I'd rather go for that.
I doubt the aim is less than automatics but we're relying on others to slip up. I don't see Wednesday slipping up much more, unless they have a complete meltdown. Both Ipswich and Plymouth seem to have a knack of grinding out a result when needed. We need to maintain form as much as possible and hope for the best.
I agree that with the great form we've been in, and the great position we're in.. the Play offs do seem like a backward step now. But for me the top two has never been a realistic prospect, even though we have really closed the gap and have got them worried. Its all coming down to the lottery of the Play offs though, and we'll have to cross that when we get there.
If it's the Play-Offs might as well prepare for League 1. Tuesday night proved we haven't the fundamentals for a one off pressure game in hand. It was first game since Bolton at home with something riding on it after Wednesday lost to Forest Green and we came up short. That would happen in the Play-Offs. Much better getting back on the horse this Saturday and going on another run to automatic.
I'd like to add. If Wednesday had beaten Forest Green we'd have beaten Exeter. Easy to chase. Same happened under Val. Played some great stuff up until we got into top six then tied up once we were there.
I can see why your saying that Ponty kid lol, but I'm not sure that I agree. But yeah obviously, we've gorra get back on the winning horse again, tomorrow.
You're probably thinking why's he saying they can't win a one off game but expects them to go on a run of wins? I think they've proven they can go on runs all season.
Nahh, I just think your a weirdo from Ponty. But yeah mate, you are right, similar to what you've said. And I don't think we should judge too much, on that game at Exeter, not at the moment.
Whatever happens and even if they fail miserably in the last few weeks its apparent to me that Duff is not duff at all. He has definitely improved the team when there was no reason to expect anything at all. Barnsley were in freefall and he's had a massive effect on stabilising things. Best thing about this season is Duff. Edit: I know I typed 'at all' twice but I'm not a stereotypical Irishman
I agree. I hope it didn't come across as I was poo-pooing things. I thought Tuesday night was a set back though. Even though I'd written it off. Weird. The loss definitely hit me though. Gutted once we equalised and I saw the highlights afterwards. It changed my assessment.
Opinions innit? There'll be some somewhere who think Duff's more shi.t than a sh.t from a dysentery ridden vindaloo eater.
I must admit my hopes were raised after the Wednesday game and I secretly thought that if we could go to Exeter and gain 3 points then our promotion juggernaut would have started to gain pace. However if at the start of the run of games starting with derby someone would have said that we would have gain the number of points we have accrued we all would also be buzzing, I think it just how the other promotion hopefuls had tripped up namely Sheffield Wednesday I feel that Ipswich have been given a inadvertently leg up and may pip us to the automatic spot. I do hope that I am wrong …… COYR’s
I think Duff is media savvy and massively ahead of the game. I just hope we can get promotion before he's poached because I reckon he hasn't reached his ceiling with us. It's a young squad not unlike the squad we had in 2015/16. It was errors at boardroom level that scuppered their chances back in the Championship. I'd love to see the combination of the most innovative boss and board I've witnessed have a crack at the Championship.
I might have to listen to Duff and not get too high after a win or low after a defeat. We've nine games left and just got to hope we drop less points than those above us.
Aww, if only he could call me that again ehh!. Thinking back to '16 again though, I thought the same then as well, after the Jpt Oxford win. I thought that the Play offs weren't a realistic thing for us, for ages. Just shows how little I know dunnit.
