The stewarding at oakwell has been a joke for a while. One of the worst things I've seen from them yesterday with granty, that and the Preston game last season when Aiden Marsh's uncle got kicked out for over celebration of his nephews goal.

Completely different stewards which begs the question where are the instructions from? Is there a constant?

It seems to me that vast majority of the individual stewards are good people just trying to earn money but that there needs to be a better line of communication between everyone from top to bottom and including fans. Everyone needs to be on the same page.

It's crazy that a director can give a megaphone to someone but the stewards are not made aware and understandably try to remove it (not that I agree with the manner). It's bonkers that the media team glorify the pitch invasions with their videos but then the security/safety team ban fans for it. That we ban people and criticise them for behaviour at an away game then give out free food to thank them at the next away game etc.
It seems daft that they have been putting out messages about discriminatory chanting all season but I haven't heard of a single fan being banned yet or even kicked out during games or spoken to despite the fact they clearly know who it is as they are watching. It seems even after that we got half way into the season before fans had even worked out what they were doing wrong because nobody would say which song it was.

They need to make sure that they're all on the same page. Have a system in place where all the directors, owners and management team look at the instructions to stewards and agree with them and if a director, owner or whatever makes a decision or decides to give a fan a megaphone SPEAK to the stewards and tell them you've done it. Don't just do it.

Speak to duff and the players and tell them what to and what not to engage with. Nothing crszy just a quick reminder that if a fan jumps the boards don't go out of your way to hug them, I'm not saying we do or anything but I've seen people like messi and ronaldo do it and it rewards bad behaviour. Just a little word nicely and friendly. Doesn't need doing now as we're near end of the season but pre season maybe.

Then speak to the fans. Not the fans groups to filter messages back but direct to the fans. Do it at half time, a friendly, polite message explaining why the chanting is being clamped down on, be humble and accept the club are largely to blame, but speak to the fans tell them what's wrong and ask them politely and warmly to change that one song because the club don't WANT to ban people but won't have any choice because the fa are watching them. Be humble, do it in the right way and the fans will understand it isnt the club against the fans it's just working together to have the best atmosphere we can in the best way

It didn’t end well for the last lot of bullying stewards in the west stand……they got battered at a night game and ran up the players tunnel in west stand

It isn't a game of who's hardest. They work for Barnsley, we support Barnsley. Can't we just try to get along and act a bit civilised? All of us

I sit a couple of rows back from Granty. What happened yesterday was a shame/ not right I think Granty took it in his stride but it was too much for his lad.
Passing comment I can’t see as you really need a megaphone Granty but whatever… :D
In my opinion you’ve done a lot to improve the match day atmosphere in recent weeks, hope this doesn’t put you off the good work.
