When Andersen was announced as man of the match, there was a man just behind me who let out the loudest boo I've heard in years. Then a second or two later he shouted, "it should have been Devante you f*****g cxxxs". I've genuinely never seen anyone show so much emotion over a man of the match decision before. He's wrong of course, Andersen was immense yesterday.
Tricky one and it’s between Mads and Cole. I can see a good case for either Think for me Cole just shades it
In a game where they attacked very little thought it was strange a defender got it ... Mads had a great game but Cole shades it for me
Andersen was superb yesterday but I'd give it to Cole as the defence weren't really tested yesterday. Also thought Kane was running the game until he went off.
Kane gave the ball away continually in the first half. Thought Kitching and Bobby were great, as was Cole, but Mads was a class above.
Mad's gor it, an it wont change, the team wer awesome, an well done one an all, C,O,Y,R, More of the same next week.
Mads again, some lovely passes and cool as a cucumber! If Devante had got his hat trick I'd have gone for him
Kane’s been doing that for weeks. On balance though, I think he had his best game for a while yesterday.
Both Mads and Cole worked their socks off, and they had to. Morecambe were very physical. I’ve never seen as much pushing in my life, at both ends of the pitch. And Cole’s ankles will be black and blue today, as he was constantly getting kicked, as was Connell.
I was probably the only person who came out of the Ponty disappointed yesterday. I’d said in the pub before the game that I had a feeling that I was going to finally see the Reds score 7 today. I didn’t come up from London for the Huddersfield game, as it was on TV, so I didn’t want to use a holiday. So I gave my season ticket to a mate, to complete the hat-trick of memorable games I lent him my ticket for. The Premiership home games against Liverpool (8 men, Gary Willard, fans trying to clout the referee, etc) and Southampton (4-3) and then the Huddersfield game. He did alright out of me! He called me at half-time at the Huddersfield game and couldn’t speak for laughing, the sod! Me and Slacki watched it in the pub near my office, off Marylebone High Street, and at half-time, whilst everyone at Oakwell were wondering whether we would beat the 9-0 we got against Loughborough, we were praying for them to stop scoring. The thought of us hitting 10 whilst we were too tight to take a holiday was making us feel sick. 7 was bad enough. I watched our reserves beat Wigan 9-0 (Nigel Adkins in the Wigan goal) and I was at Anfield when they beat Palace 9-0, but I’ve never seen the Reds do it. Had we not made all the changes I think it would have happened yesterday. The changes were the right thing to do, in terms of game management, as we have two games coming up this weekend, but they were very frustrating personally, as we were so close to 7! But on the way out I heard Shrewsbury had let 6 in at Charlton, and we’re better than Charlton, so Monday…
Devante for his brace. His first strike settled any early nerves we might have had. Our defence had very little to do against a very poor side, so that's another reason I picked an attacking player. It makes sense after winning 5 nill.
I agree about Kane, and it's by no means the first time that this has happened. Personally, I think he is a little overrated by some on this forum.
For the Kane doubters, yesterday's passing stats for the Midfield trio: Kane: 82.9% from 35 passes (1 key pass) Thomas: 74.1% from 27 passes (1 key pass) Connell: 78.6% from 28 passes (1 key pass)
