that when herbie cane took the free kick he had 2 touches he played it with his right then it hit his left. got away with it
He’d clearly hit it into his other leg, watching from that end of the ESL. Surprised the ref didn’t spot it. To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with Kane in the first half. I thought he slowed down a lot of attacks with backwards passes. But he took his goal well, and substitute midfield couldn’t match the starting midfield for quality when they came on. So shows how much I know.
I realised he'd mucked it up slightly at the time, I didn't twig it should have resulted in a free kick the other way until you mentioned it though
I must admit, I've watched it maybe 10 times and hadn't noticed it until this thread. The ref just seems to glance towards goal when Kane lays it off, and I think that's the only way he's missed it.
Wouldn't the ball have to move it's full circumference before it counts ??? Just looking for excuses lol
Yes, he stepped over it, as I said to my mate that it won’t count as an assist, as he didn’t touch it, but it most certainly was an assist and a brilliant one at that
I think that's a rule but then if we are saying the second touch is the free kick because the ball didn't move a full circumference then it was a moving ball when he 'kicked' it?
Only just seen this. According to Law 13, an indirect free kick should have been awarded to them. Sounds like we got away with one there. "If, after the ball is in play, the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player, an indirect free kick is awarded"
The 'full circumference ' was dropped a while ago. Ball is in play once it is played. I'm sure i saw a VAR overturn a penalty goal when someone slipped and kicked the ball against his other foot before it went in.
Yes I saw that one fairly recently. Our first goal would have been disallowed if we had had VAR - still we are due a bad decision in our favour and need a few more for the season to balance out
Knowledgeable football people saw it happen.... https://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/match-day-fred-morcambe-h.320622/
