    ONE WEEK TO GO!

At 08:30 on Wednesday 5th April me and the 'old man will be setting off on our walk to Burton Albion! The distance is approx. 70 miles based on our route which will be spread over three days (The route is as follows)
    • Day One - Oakwell to Chesterfield FC via Weston Park Hospital
    • Day Two - Chesterfield FC to Derby County FC
    • Day Three - Derby County FC to Burton Albion FC
You may have seen previous, and many have contributed to an already amazing total, that I fundraise for Weston Park Cancer Charity who treated my step-dad back in 2018. Considering the reason the hospital / charity is there it really is an amazing place with fantastic doctors, nurses, support staff and volunteers; ultimately treating and providing support to patients and their families during difficult times.

Over the course of the next week, and during the three days, I will be pushing the event over my social media to try raise some sponsorship. To try and get something back there will also be raffles / auctions of signed memorabilia from numerous clubs and hotel deals.

Feel free to follow the social media page on Facebook, events and items constantly get added; https://www.facebook.com/groups/420990995312213/

    The JustGiving page is; https://justgiving.com/fundraising/ciaranheadshave

Feel free to read more on the event, and reason, from the Barnsley Chronicle article; Father and son to raise cash for charity | Barnsley Chronicle

Finally, if you are travelling to the game on Friday and see two people struggling along please feel free to give us a beep & wave!!

    THANK YOU!

Thank you for the donation and hope your dad is doing well with the treatment. The staff are remarkable throughout the hospital. If not done so already would defiantly recommend the Weston Park Charity / Support Centre, even for the family if you have any questions / concerns or struggling with the diagnosis.

If you've not sorted your route from Derby to Burton, I would recommend following the old canal branch from where it used to meet the river close to the Ipro stadium down through Shelton Lock to Swarkestone, then follow the Trent and Mersey canal all the way to Burton. Decent pub on the canal at Willington (The Dragon) good beer and food.

I'll look out for you at the Pirelli.

    1 day to go!

We will be setting off from Oakwell tomorrow morning at 8.30am, and hopefully we will reach Chesterfield by 5pm. Weather forecast isn't looking too bad at the moment, Wednesday the worst day with strong chance of light rain!

If you listen to Radio Sheffield you will hear us in the morning with a pre-record first thing followed by live updates at 8.50 on Wednesday and Friday.

Still time to make a donation if you wish, the JustGiving page is live throughout the walk. Massive thanks if you already have, greatly appreciated.

Hopefully see some at Burton and come home with three points!!

Day One completed, just short of 26 miles - the last 5 miles on A61 bypass was an experience on the grass verges

Thanks for the donations so far - thanks to Barnsley FC, Barnsley Chronicle and Radio Sheffield for promoting it too.

This forum needs some positivity so well done lads. Plenty looked to be donated. Surely though the first half wasn't that bad to not return for the second :)

Just donated a few quid. I hope the result hasn't dampened your spirits.
