If that's what it ends up being, we will have done amazingly well for a season in which stabilisation was the first target. If we had had the second half of the season form in the first half as well, we would be well up for automatic. I think that we would have as good a chance as any of the likely four/five teams in the play offs and we would have the bonus of knowing that we had exceeded the expectations which were around at the start of the season. I also think that Michael Duff is an honourable chap. He got Cheltenham Town promoted to League One, but didn't consider leaving until he had stabilised them in that league. I think that he will be looking to get us promoted back to the Championship, whether this season, or next, and then stabilise us as a Championship club before looking around. In this way he will be building up his CV according to a professional development plan. I don't think he will 'fly by night.' If he gets us promoted and stabilised, his modus operandi suggests that he would then consider another Championship club with a view to getting them into the Premiership and stabilised there as well. We'll see. If that works out, if we go up this season, he would want to stabilise us next in the Championship and then look around. That means he would be looking around in twelve months time, or twenty four if we struggle at the higher level. If we don't go up this season, he will try again next season and hope to get us stable in the Championship the season after, which would means two years before looking around. Either way, I hope that i am right.

Hope you are right as Duff is a breath of fresh air and feel lucky and blessed to have him so hope we keep him whatever the scenario.

    Pl F A GD Pts
1 Plymouth 39 70 42 +28 83 In form but with 7 games to play still time fort a blip
2 Ipswich Town 39 78 31 +47 81 Same as Plymouth and they still have to come to us
3 Sheff Wed 40 68 32 +36 81 Bricking it! Had Automatic in their grasp but fallen off a cliff since we stuffed them!
4 Barnsley 39 67 36 +31 75 Pretty safe in the Play-Offs so might as well give it a good go as we've nothing to lose. Just have to keep our heads.

Still plenty of games left and I reckon Duff is well up for the job.

Yes they are... can't see three teams pushing us down to seventh.

We've done well against the other teams around us agreed. Ipswich are a different proposition all together.

Don't see the need for best on thread or whatever you're on about though- I'm not being ridiculous saying that's the hardest game we've got and similar performance to today would see us lose am I? The OP of this thread was thinking we wouldn't make the play offs and you choose my post to take issue with.

Yep we've certainly done well and deserved to win those games I just cant escape the thought that Ipswich are better than all of those sides and will turn us over if we play like today. I'm not being overly negative of the team I just don't feel we were at our best and haven't been since the Wednesday game. Morecambe last week was a good performance without getting out of 2nd gear.

You're quite correct in what you are saying about the team over the course of the season! we have been much better than I thought we would in August. Roll on Monday :)
