We've lost a little ground to Ipswich and Wednesday over easter with our results, and we have 2 fewer games in which to make up points. 2 of the following need to happen in the next 6 games: We need to score 6 more points than Wednesday in that time to finish above them. We have a game in hand over them too, but their goal difference is 7 better than ours. We need to score 5 more points than Plymouth in that time to finish above them. We've played the same number of games, but have a 6 better goal difference. We need to score 4 more points than Ipswich in that time to finish above them. We've played the same number of games than them, but have a 15 worse goal difference. But we do have to play them of course. Plymouth are wobbling, Wednesday have wobbled but may have arrested that wobble now. Ipswich have finally concedeed a goal and dropped points. It's doable, but now it's 6 straight wins required for me. Cadden is going to be a loss, but otherwise we've got a full strength side to pick from. If we can replicate February's form, the least we do is put ourselves in good stead for the play offs, at the very least. Not a classic today, not helped by a slippery pitch, negative physical opposition and card happy referee. Sometimes you need to win ugly, and it's the sort of game we would have surrendered in earlier in the season (see Wycombe at home), but Duff seems to have instilled that bit of bite to us that was missing at the start of the season. Duff himself has said he wasn't pleased with the performance today, which shows there will be no complacency going into the game next Saturday, from which it is essential we get 3 points. I'm certainly more upbeat now about our chances compared to Friday. Ipswich will be hurting after dropping 2 points at Cheltenham, and I honestly didn't see Plymouth losing to a Lincoln side who's home form has been much better than their away form. Onwards and upwards!
Very little if any room for error. Six wins out of six might not even be enough. Last match could be tough as us and Posh could both have something riding on it.
I've just done the predictor and even if we win 5 from 6 with a draw at Lincoln, we still miss out to Ipswich on GD. So realistically, I also think we need 6 wins from 6.
Winning all 6 would see us up now I think. Don’t think we’re playing well enough to win all 6 though if I’m honest, plus our away form is poor.
That’s what I’ve got in my head too. Win the rest. Strange things often happen at the back end of the season though.
I haven't a clue what we'll do, but I feel confident that if we score first we won't lose the game. Plymouth will be the ones annoyed at their loss today, being at home. Ipswich were away from home so probably will be OK with that point.
2 of our remaining 3 away games are at the 2 worst home teams in the league though. The Lincoln game is the tough one away from home.
After the Wednesday win, I said we’d need to win 8 out of the last 10 to have a chance. Meaning 96 point was the ridiculously high target. Unfortunately we burnt the two games we could afford to lose in the next three matches. I still think 6 wins would be enough, but cannot see us doing it.
I can see Plymouth slipping up again in their remaining fixtures Exeter away for them next week will be a tough one. I think win all 6 and we will do it but we will drop points as will the other 3.
Most likely outcome for me unfortunately. However, there is the psychological element as well. If we win the next 3 and Ipswich have dropped points, they'll be very jittery coming to Oakwell. Lincoln away looks tough, but it's definitely winnable. Brilliant result for them today, but they're mid-table for a reason.
If we win all 6 then we go up automatically in my opinion, however I don’t think we will & I believe we’ll finish 3rd or 4th. Unfortunately I think Plymouth will also miss out. There still feels a massive injustice about Friday’s robbery. It was all everyone was talking about pre-game. I can only imagine the buzz today if we rightfully finished the match 3 points off the top of the league. All we can do is keep winning & hope for the best. If we all put our predictions in I doubt any of us had Plymouth losing at home to Lincoln. Likewise none of us had Wednesday losing at Forest Green a few weeks back.
Plenty of twist and turns yet. Just need to keep adding the pressure. Plymouth, Ipswich and Wednesday have all spent moments today at the top of the table. It’s changing all the time. Hopefully, we are saving our time at the top for the last moments of the Peterborough game.
Lincoln away for me is the hardest fixture remaining, Ipswich and Peterborough at home will be a test but at home with the crowd behind us I’d fancy our chances. Lincoln away on a Tuesday night who have upset others is the banana skin, win the next 2 and it’ll be one hell of an end to the season
Very surprised we are where we are. At the start of the season we were told we were skint, had to sell all our best players and replace them with free transfers. With that in mind I expected us to be where Burton are. If we finish 4th with a largely new team that will be some achievement as far as I'm concerned.
