He doesn't play for us anymore, although the Tractor Boys are getting the best out of him.

He was unsuited to the hoofball played by Ismael. Can remember the ball constantly sailing over his head, back and forth.

Him and Morris in the top three scorers in their divisions.

Yeah - we'd have absolutely mullered this league with Morris and Chaplin up front and with Duff organizing everyone.

Though if I were owner I'd have sold Chaplin when we did. What do I know?

I'd have kept him, think he'd have been good for team morale as well as his football which we desperately needed last season.

Speaks volumes about the difference in quality between Championship and League 1.

I quite liked Chaplin, although I think all those goals he got for us was definitely a little purple patch for him.

Be interesting to see how he gets on again in the championship, should be get there for next season.

As for him running his mouth about us earlier this season, it stank of bitter sour grapes of course.
But the most annoying thing about it, is he was probably right.

I liked Chaplin, but let's not forget at the time we were finishing in the play offs in the championship - a long time ago in football terms.

I think he was, he didn't have a go at the fans but the way he was treated hy the club.

Yeah it was about the way the club do business.
And I think the way players get treated here, because its a continued revolving door of ins and outs, etc.
And as much as I liked the season we had under Val, it was clear his way didn't suit Chaplin.

I feel like this is a gross oversimplification which does a massive disservice to Ismael and that team.

I liked Chaplin he was like a young chris dagnall. Think ipswich offered us what we paid for him so we cut our losses.

Oh dear, not just an oversimplification but a gross oversimplification.

I'm referring to Chaplin's restricted effectiveness within our team at that time, NOT the overall impact of Ismaels's tactics on the team itself.

His scoring stats this campaign bear this out.

Calling it "hoofball" is pretty derogatory. Chaplin was playing wide for us, and was younger, in a league above

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I remember saying when he left, he was miles better than anyone we'd bring in to replace him.

Olare, Leya Iseka, Marsh, Cole, Norwood, Jalo, Watters and Tedic have followed him in the first team. Morris and Woodrow have gone on to better things, plus Adeboyejo to, err, similar things.

Does anyone really think it was a good idea to let him go, in hindsight?
