Yeh exactly mate. My mate is a Leicester fan but lived in Stroud for years, so just down the road for him. Even when they went up from League 2 he said it was painful to watch at times (lack of quality). But I guess that's how it goes.
Spot on. On match day we are nobody's friends. Go for the throat of every team we play. I'm ******* loving it.
I love a bit of sh***housery, Lyle Taylor at Charlton upset some of our delicate flowers when he scored against us a couple of years back but I thought it was brilliant. They’re grown ups, so are we, take a step back and be prepared to take it as well as give it.
He got some stick, have a bit back. Nowt wrong with that. It’s a really strange hill to die on this BBS’ers.
Nowt wrong with giving a bit back. The ear cupping thing fair dos. Shushing fans, fair dos. There's a limit though, and I think people are just suggesting what he did with the 'going down' thing was too far. By the sounds of it, Duffy has already told him he doesn't need to go as far as he does.
Nothing wrong with players giving players stick or home fans and away fans having banter. The issue is when a so called professional thinks he's clever giving it the big one from the safety of the pitch, when if they acted the same way outside there is every chance someone would take exception to it.
Some idiot would av probably chucked a coin at him if theyve ad been that offended, truth is they knew why he did it,safety of pitch doesnt come into it,in prem if that fan would av got to ref v liverpool hed av got attacked i reckon, fgr knew why he did it and so do we he retaliated and weve all done that at ssome stage.
What? Your measure of whether a player has done something wrong, is based on whether or not someone in the crowd throws a coin at him? Would that be your reaction, if you thought a player had done or said something wrong? To throw a coin at him?
What, you hope he waves goodbye to them and says they're going down? Don't you think that would be a bit weird? Lincoln are in 12th place and 15 points clear of the relegation zone.
I remember Ricardo fuller scoring a late penalty for Stoke many years ago and giving it to the ponty. Then getting bombarded with objects. James beattie the same for sheffield United many years back. It doesn't bother me if someone wants to play the pantomime villain but there is a thing called inciting the crowd. The reaction you may get a FGR may not be the same as you would receive at Elland Road, oakwell, St Andrews etc if you chose to do that. Hope he keeps scoring and celebrating how he pleases even though duff seems to think he took it abit far.
No problem at all with that. He celebrated like he would against any other club, and his criticism of how Barnsley were operating was bang on. Never a fan of players not celebrating against former clubs, unless there was a very strong connection between the player and club in question. That said, no time for Norwood's celebration either. He's shut them up by scoring the goal, no need to goad them.
I also like smaller clubs to av a little No just telling it over reaction style like folk making a massive deal out of it.hes not bothered about fgr fans but he will be bothered about what were saying about him,its all about opinions i see nothing wrong others do.
Did he need to do it? No. But dear me there’s folk going a bit far here. He has previous with the fgr fans. For whatever reason they like giving him a bit of stick. He got it at Oakwell and he got a lot more of it on Saturday. In the heat of the moment on an emotional high after scoring he made the gestures he did to their support - though I don’t think any of it was anything but pretty good natured. In all fairness their fans haven’t moaned about this at all - it all seems a bit tit for tat and he’s a pantomime villain to them. He was happy to have photos taken with some of their younger supporters so he’s clearly not a complete arse, I think you can read too much into this. And as for Chaplin, I hope we don’t need to worry about whether he’d celebrate at Oakwell. Though I’ve never bought into this ***** about not celebrating against former teams. If you were born and brought up at a place and had a lifetime affinity to a club, ok. But a club who bought and then sold you after a couple of years or whatever? Rubbish. Alan Shearer always celebrated goals against Southampton and Blackburn after he’d moved on and he’s no less fondly remembered at those clubs. Denis Law didn’t celebrate the goal he scored for City which relegated United (though they’d have gone down anyway even if he didn’t score), Gary McAllister didn’t celebrate a free kick he scored for Liverpool which meant Coventry were likely to be relegated - I get those examples, they had a huge long lasting affinity to the clubs. But there’s no reason for Conor Chaplin to not celebrate scoring against us, nor anyone else. Moore, Woodrow, Bradshaw, Morris. I suspect most of them wouldn’t but I find it bizarre. You are playing for another club now with another set of supporters idolising you. Celebrate your goals with them, you aren’t disrespecting your old supporters by doing that. I don’t get why this has become a thing in football I really don’t.
I think part of the difference there is in how he chose to celebrate - it was pretty much always run off with one arm held up. Pretty difficult for anyone to take offence at that.
That kid who ran on pitch and scored against man ure,I know it wa wrong but wow what a feeling he would have had,I took a penalty against Andy Rhodes in a reserve game and he saved it a wa gutted a could av scored at oakwell
