If we were going to end up in the playoffs I'd rather know that sooner rather than just miss out on the last day. We have time to mentally prepare and compose ourselves and (assuming Ipswich go up automatically) I'd fancy us to beat any of the 3 teams we're likely to face.
The thing is, it's still not mathematically confirmed. Say we beat Oxford on Saturday and either Plymouth or Ipswich (or both) drop points, hopes will be up again, particularly ahead of the Ipswich game next Tuesday. Ipswich in particular have a tricky trip to Peterborough to navigate, and Wednesday face Exeter who, as we know, are no mugs.
Wouldn't fancy us against Wednesday in the play off final! We've beaten them twice this season and I would hate for them to get revenge and beat us at Wembley with a poxy goal!
I'm genuinely not sure I could cope with Wednesday in the final. A lot of my mates are already starting to talk about how "amazing" a Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday playoff final would be. I was forced to agree it probably would be for neutrals!
As disappointed as I was immediately after the final whistle tonight, to have guaranteed a play off spot and opportunity to go back up after the nightmare of last season and how we were early on this season is phenomenal. I think we'll look back on this as a good season whatever division we're in next season.
You’re mad. I’m thinking about all the painful last minute equalisers, winners etc over the years, then multiplying that feeling by 9,837,930 if we lose in that way at Wembley. It would be pure torture. I genuinely think I would just give the game a miss
You bet me to it....what's to say there isn't more twists and turns to come , which in my opinion , there is We win all 4 it gives us 96points the top 3 could loose a couple win a couple which would put them on 95.94. 93 respectively has the table stands tonight....it isn't over until the fat lady sings ...keep the faith folks....
you can get 33/1 us getting in top 2 , 9/4 Wednesday. Ipswich and Plymouth both 1/8 , looks like bookies think its all over
it almost is Its possible that Plymouth or Ipswich will blow up but its not very likely - those odds look realistic to me
we should go into playoffs in better mindset than Wednesday they really have blown automatic it seems
Peterboro seem to be the team with the momentum, currently looks likely we'll play them 3 times in a row.....
