Would it? We're on 85 points now with 3 to play. We can potentially accumulate more points than some of those below, but we might not. We haven't yet amassed more points than any of them and some are already out of reach. Top two last few seasons 21-22 Wigan 92 Rotherham 90 20-21 Hull 89 Peterborough 87 19-20 Abandoned early for Covid 18-19 Luton 94 Barnsley 91 17-18 Wigan 98 Blackburn 96
Much better 2nd half...upped our application and quickened our passing. Well done lads and well done our coach...still concerned with Williams and Watters but another good home win overall against a team who could knock it about but lacked something in the final 3rd
Both of them were disappointing, with Watters also included. None of these three merit a start. Josh Benson on the other hand won't weaken the team; thought he was pretty decent in his brief spell.
For me, a very good, comfortable victory. Even when Oxford got through, Isted showed what an excellent 'keeper he is. If it's to be the Play Offs, so be it. I, for one don't fear any of our potential opponents.
Out of interest how many points did the teams finishing 3rd and 4th accumulate in those seasons? We could end up with 94 points and finish 3rd and or Wednesday could finish 3rd with 96 points.
Depends how you look at it. If you just go by the form tables and assume the season started then, we’ve been in the top 2 in the following: Last 30 Games 1. Barnsley: 64 points Last 25 Games 1. Barnsley: 55 Points Last 20 Games 1. Barnsley: 45 Points Last 15 Games 1. Ipswich: 37 Points 2. Barnsley: 35 Points The poor start to the season, dodgy October, and recent away form is what cost us automatic.
I'd completely forgotten about the huge totals in 17-18 to be fair. Although even in January with us miles behind, I think it was fair to assume that if we got to 90+ points we'd more than likely have a good shot at automatic. That's proved not to be the case.
Play offs, will be extremely tough if the other 3 teams are Wednesday, Bolton and Derby. Would prefer Peterborough to swap with Bolton and perhaps Plymouth to drop out of the top 2 although it would take an almighty **** up now for that to happen!!
None of them are particularly playing well. It looks like there may be an advantage this year of no in-form 6th place team.
I've got faith in Duff, i've got faith in the team, we're a lot better than a lot give us credit for, an we'll beat anyone in the playoffs, watching Sheff 5hite at Wembley an i want to see Barnsley back there. I'm in London that weekend already booked, an it'd be the icing on the Cake.
Oxford certainly not the worse team I’ve seen down here and probably should have nicked a goal but we’ve a great habit of winning when not at our best. All about peaking now for the playoffs in Duff we trust .
Pigs will be wanting us to win now against Ipswich! .Got to agree Playoffs will be tough.Wednesday probably will have Paterson,Byers and Windass back so ye tough.
Just a special mention today for................the ref. Yes imho the official, was very good. Common sense approach...clear in his decision making and the decision against Anderson on the edge of our box (1st half) first rate. He waited that essential couple of seconds saw no advantage and gave them a free kick on the edge of the "D". Also when I thought Tedic was fouled ...he defused the situation and just had a word. There were other actions but that was a good display...well done ref. Oooh before I forget 2 fantastic saves from Isted.
Didn't hear that and I sit.in the Ponty end. Heard the Harry Isted one which was good. How's the Tedic one go?
