So did Hourihane, which I'm a little surprised at! He's been good for Derby but not sure he's been good enough to get in front of even Connell for us, let alone anyone from wednesday, plymouth or ipswich!
Of the 3 lads out of contract at the end of next season, he’s the one I’d like us to keep hold of and get to sign a new contract.
Stats don't lie, 7 goals and 10 assists mindst. Luca's had a good season but 2 goals and 8 assists in comparison.
Adam Phillips has 9 goals and 8 assists and doesn't take corners. How's Windass got in? He's got 11 goals up front. Devante has 15. Norwood has 10 ffs. I'm not saying they should be in, but cannot understand how Windass is in. Bannan, fair enough. But he earns more than Morecambe's squad combined so there is that. Seems a bit of 'name' team in my opinion. And I include Mads in that. Kitching has outperformed him for my money.
He’s one I would run the contract down, unless an extremely good offer comes in. Think there’s a few more than 3 whose contract ends at the end of next season. Andersen, Williams, Collins, Kane, Cole, Cadden and Cundy. Than possibly Norwood. This combined with Luke Thomas plus the loans we have in, Khaled still has a job on his hands in the summer, regardless of what league we’re in.
Like Mads but he is our most "carded" player, 11 yellows, 1 red. Might surprise a few given Kitching's "dander" but, in my view, Mads has been a bit lax recently.....
I love Kitching but no way for me, first half of season Mads was our best player by a mile until we started playing better/more cohesively. Was going to mention how often Kitching has stopped our attacking play with really poor passes, but these passed few months he's improved no end, especially those worldie diagonals for Williams. But overall 1000% mads for me. I'll be gutted when he leaves.
3 of the more recent ones has been due to dissent/his reaction which has really surprised me! I can only assume it's because he's as sick as us at poor refereeing and the fact we we've been in the race for autos
No idea buddy. Was just responding in relation to Connell. Kitching has really come on this season, great asset to our squad.
Always hard to gauge who should / shouldn’t make a team of the season when you don’t watch the others every week. Mads & Connell have been our two best & most consistent performers in my opinion but the midfield spots are always more likely to go to midfielders who score & assist more. I was surprised at Lincoln at how poor Connell was because of how rare it is, he rarely has a bad game.
We won’t keep him, nor should we. You cannot have players of that quality buggering around in Div 3. If he’s got any ambition at all he needs to be moving to something better.
Regardless of how well he has or has not played, if there is a more likeable character than Mads in the entire EFL then I'd be surprised. Be a sad day when he leaves this club, one of my all time favourites. Always has a smile on his face, humble, never complains, well spoken ... his mum & dad must be extremely proud. When i think back to his first[?] season with us as a very young man, when nearly every time he made a mistake it cost us, with the crowd on his back, in a foreign country. Not once did he moan. Kept his head down, worked hard & ended up captain ... I hope he goes on to have a very successful career
