Slightly left field question - is there any difference between using Just Eat or Deliveroo Ive never used either but Dad isnt able to drive at the moment and was looking into getting him the odd meal like for example some fish and chips delivered occasionally. I see the "Catch" Chip shop by Wombwell Main uses both, just wondering if one is better to use than the other? anyone any recommendations
If you find somewhere you like on either of them, check the prices with the restaurant directly before ordering. Uber Eats are particularly bad at saying "50% off certain restaurants" and when you cross check their prices with those on the website of the restaurant, they've actually doubled the price before offering 50% off.
Both are ridiculously expensive both with the mark up on food and delivery but if it's only now and then and a means to an end you can't complain, Uber is same. Most of time now i try and see if the take away has their own app or website as the prices are less and they use their own drivers
Watch also for the minimum spend. I used to used Just Eat to order a Chinese to pick up on the way home when I was worked away because work paid (I could use my company CC through JustEat but I had to pay cash if I ordered direct). Minimum order was £25 through JE - to collect - so we were stuffed with Chinese for 2-3 meals...
Deliveroo every time. Last week I got home to find they’d left a McDonalds on my doorstep. Hadn’t even ordered it like. Fillet o fish, fries and a coke. Didn’t fancy the fish as it’d been there for 5 hours.
I use Uber Eats occasionally and prefer it to Deliveroo and Just Eat. Depends on what restaurants are available on each app too though. I get regular promos with uber eats (via email) and they do work out as a good deal from the restaurants I use.
Be careful with Uber Eats. If the delivery doesn't make it to you, you still have to pay and they take no responsibility for it being lost...
Used it for years mate, no issues. You can even track where the driver is, and it prompts you when they're outside. You can also say 'it hasn't arrived yet' (at the allotted time) - this happened the other day to the minute, and as soon as I clicked that my front door buzzer went. I'm in Bristol, others may have a different experience in other parts of the country.
Used Just Eat for a curry once, it came half an hour late and clock cold. Driver was sarky as well when I complained. Wouldn't use them again.
