We need to lose it. Everyone sings it - Ipswich had it on Saturday either pre or post match. It scans with both Bolton & Derby. Surely point of pre match tune is to give an advantage not just have 4 sides of ground singing along. Back to the drawing board for the playoffs for me.....
I agree but we should keep it till the end of the season as it's likely to have little effect on the remaining games (as long as we use it post match). I hope we - the club and supporters - can identify suitable alternatives during the close season
The away support will be vocal regardless. So even more of a need to get an atmosphere going in the home stands.
Nothing gets a home support going more than a winning and good football performance from the players.
Hey Jude will probably be more effective at the start of the game, than announcing a reminder that we won 9 home games in a row recently. During the game, yes, will be dictated by the performance to a degree.
An ancient and old song that's so generic it is used by loads of clubs. It same as the Michael Duff song that has a tune sung by loads of clubs. Another generic Football song. Nothing is ever original it is just let copy what everyone else does.
I'm gonna say it, I hate the Michael Duff tune. I associate it with Man Utd, I always heard their fans singing it on MOTD or Sky. It really grated on me, to the point where I caught a couple of lyrics and googled it, just to see what they were actually singing. It'll always be a Utd song for me. When I first heard a couple of lads singing our version at Charlton I was horrified. I thought, it can't be! Now it's our main anthem. I much preferred the we've got Daniel Stendel tune, that was class. We need some new songs and fast. I find nearly all our songs at the minute aggressive, offensive or just annoying. I miss the feelgood songs from the 90s, and the ones about players when people would put their heart into it. Even the Jovo chant was powerful.
It's not for pre-match but it's created the best atmosphere l've heard in Oakwell after the final whistle (and a win) for years so why would we change it? Keep it for a win after the final whistle, away fans won't sing it then. I've also noticed a lot more staying back, singing it and clapping the team. I think Timeriders ***** but l wouldn't want it changed just because of my opinion.
Pre match we should just stick to normal un singalong music, until it gets to Timerider, then if we win post match stick with Hey Jude.
I don"t no what the problem is , its a lot better than the one we sang before ( nothing ) , if you don"t like it don"t sing it , but its not so long ago people were moaning about no atmosphere , at least this does generate some atmosphere & against wednesday it was fantastic.
I agree, after the match is good when we've won! We could go all Brentford and have a few more songs to party to after a win too!
Gior bairnin. Everyone joins in, so who gives a toss if other clubs use it. It's the loudest song used I've heard in a long long while. It's rousing for the players.
I agree but it would be great if we could come up with a song as easy to sing along to that's unique to us or at least more unique anyway but if we can't I'll take hey jude
Can you indulge - for us super part-timers - what the Michael Duff song is or what tune is it sang to?
We've got Super Michael Duffy Be knows exactly what we need Mads at the back Devante in attack Barnsley's going to win the football (or f word) league.
