EFL ANNOUNCES LANDMARK BROADCASTING DEAL WITH SKY SPORTS Club News Continue reading on the official site...
Will end up like the Prem where there's only 3 or 4 matches on a Sat afternoon, but I guess if the wedge is big enough it's worth it. Problem is more money in the game just means the cheats like Derby and Weds have a bigger fund to cheat with.
60% of championship games going to be live on telly equals 60% not kicking off st 3pm on a Saturday. Killing the game for match going fans
Fans shafted good and proper again! Matches kicking off here there and everywhere bar 3pm. And what about the fans abroad!
The pandemic breeded a big group of armchair fans. People who got out of the habit of going and haven't been much if at all since. This will appeal to them, but sadly it will ruin the game. In the winter months especially crowds will suffer. To fit all the games in it will need to probably show games every day of the week. Back to Thursday night EFL games like in ITV Digital days. More money for clubs to overpay on wages, whilst fans suffer with even more ridiculous kick off times. Likely now they will fit in an EFL game late on a Sunday after the 4:30 PL game has finished.
So players will get more money for inconveniencing fans when really it’s their wages that need reigning in tbh.
This money will take some clubs back to breaking even at the 7000 season ticket holders mark and not giving a stuff about progression on the pitch.
I'm confused by this. The EFL own the rights to the football matches. The EFL stream all matches on their iFollow platform. The EFL receive advertising revenue as well as subscription and single match access income. Why do they need Sky? All they need to do is offer more access options so all matches are potentially available to all fans.
