Ok so the last couple of games with away fans we have won. Does that mean your point is proven? think of all the other games over the last 20 years where we have been humiliated with 6000 away fans. I can count on one hand when we have actually come out on top.
Would’ve thought the answer was obvious. Give them an initial allocation. If we think we can sell out the home stands and sell enough in the north stand to break even on extra stewarding costs, then we give the away team no more. If we’re struggling to sell home ends out, give them the full allocation. Prioritise home fans over away. And then prioritise away fans over an empty stand.
If we allow Bolton to fill the away end ,surely this will give the team a better chance than 2000 fans being there. I'm all in regards the poster saying its money for the owners. However this is a one off chance to make huge amounts of extra revenue if we get promoted . And like the previous poster said get new fans back to the club , ex fans who have been disillusioned by the ex owners back to the club. I have witnessed us thumping Derby and Fowls this season with the North stand packed. I have seen many more games than that when the North stand and West Stand half packed with away fans, creating a home advantage for the away team. Let's treat shithousery with shithousery and play at there game off the field. Duffy and Co need all the help they can get ,starting off the field. Let's hope the club reciprocate the hospitality offered by Bolton Wanderers to BFC to the Bolton fans. I for one have given up the chance of going to the first leg which I would have gone if tickets were available.
I agree. Don’t know what planet the likes of Jay etc are on saying it is no advantage for the away team. We’ve seen it time and time again.
I dont believe that we would be able to sell the extra 3 or 4 thousand in the North Stand to Barnsley fans but would love to be proved wrong. It would make a difference but dont see it happening. I envisage the stand will be full of Bolton Fans, whatever we may think.
Under Conman and Co your absolutely right. Under the new consortium I am thinking we have a chance of sticking fans in there , just a thousand would drown the Bolton lot out.
Exactly. An extra 1000 home fans in the ground is more valuable to the club long term, than an extra 3000 away fans
Just seen one of those Thogdan videos on YouTube (Bolton vlogger) and he’s already looking forward to playing sheff Weds at Wembley so I now hope he ends up with egg on his face.
They may be playing them in the 2 legs if They lose and Derby win. Doubtful, but quite possible. Sounds like they have the Sheffield Weds big club syndrome.
Just had a nosey round their forum (the Wanderers Ways one) and there is more than a touch of Ipswich about them. Barely a mention of the semi-final (other than tickets) but plenty about who they'll face in the final.
Should not matter whether we sell 20k or 1.2k. we should never surrender our home advantage for profit. Be better off playing Infront of a half empty ground as normal
Well you would think SYP and/or club might be concerned that with a full or near full away end in such an important game it will be difficult to stop a pitch invasion should they win and/ or respond to a pitch invasion by home fans if we win.
Two weeks is plenty of time. Well if we only sell 10k or less tickets we pretty much surrender home advantage anyway. 2k away fans will still make plenty of noise anyway.
Why does the game need to go ahead ? Can't Barnsley/Bolton just limit the away attendance as much as possible. That way it will be a 0-0 draw and we can go straight to penalties - obviously the toss for which ground they take place wojld be siginificant......
Think today showed the power of fans getting behind the team. 1900 of them but seemed like much more once they got ahead.
