Two biggish, traditionally football league sides, ok. But it is between two non league sides both based within thirty miles of eachother in the east/north midlands. I know they couldnt really rearrange it given there’s no notice but does that game really need to be at Wembley? You’d think there’d be a big enough ground local to them that could accommodate. Pride Park is free until August now for a start… But even away from there, it isn’t far to Sheffield, even Coventry, Stoke or Birmingham for either side. How many tickets are they going to sell for wembley and how dead will it sound when it is literally less than half full? Just seems daft.
Notts County will sell out their allocation. It's a final so should be played at Wembley. The issue is with FA Cup semi finals.
Gutted its same time as Bolton game would have loved to have watched this. All finals should be at Wembley
That's like saying the league one final should be at old Trafford cos we won't sell 35k tickets. Every club and it's fans should get the chance to play at Wembley and have their day out
Should have their chance to play at Wembley as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure there'll be a cracking atmosphere, it won't just be the fans that go week in week out but wider family and folk from the area.
Why deny them the chance to play at the national stadium? Seems a bit elitist to exclude them. As for the noise, Wembley is designed for it, even the glass in the exec boxes are positioned a certain angle for maximum acoustics. Let them enjoy their day in the sun (or rain)
They won’t sell 40,000 plus tickets to half fill it. I don’t think they’re even opening the top tier. And for all the arguments about denying them a day out, it isn’t about that. I’m not saying they shouldn’t play the fa vase and trophy final etc there. But when you’re talking about getting promotion to the football league, the prize is bigger than the day out itself. I’d say similar if it was two teams local to eachother for league two or one playoff finals as well. Though if we get to the league one final and face Wednesday it’ll have to be Wembley to accommodate the millions of Wednesday massives to be fair… If the fans of the clubs themselves wouldn’t want it anywhere else then yeah, great. Just seems daft. I’d be amazed if the attendance tops 45k.
It's possible that every single final will be a northern derby, played at Wembley. Boro v Mackems Barnsley v Wednesday Stockport v Carlisle is much less of a derby, but still a proper northern clash.
Your last paragraph does it for me. If you asked fans of either team where they'd want the final, the unanimous response would undoubtedly be 'Wembley.' And I'm sure none of them would think it daft.
