Hi everyone this is my first post since October but I feel now is the time to come back.
After reading thomasevans story I'd like to tell my story.I'm putting this in a seperate post because I don't want the message to get lost in the good wishes to thomasevans. My post is more about observations and the journey it takes you on.
While having a wee on a Sunday morning after a night out I noticed I was passing blood quite a lot of blood really.I didn't tell my wife but later on in the day after again passing blood and clots I told my wife.
When I got up on the Monday morning my wife had already phoned the GP and my journey began.
The day after I had to take a urine sample and have a blood test at my surgery. On Thursday I was having an Ultra Sound scan and the week after I was at Urology at Barnsley Hospital. After having my bladder and prostate checked.A few days after I was having CT scans and I was referred to the Hallamshire.
I met the consultent who told me I had a 12x10x8 cm tumour on my left Kidney and it had to come out.
After making a few jokes about not operating during the World Cup he said he would do it as soon as possible.
My initial date was for the 20th of January but I got a call on the 21st of December for me to go in on the 28th December.
I wasn't looking forward to Christmas Day but it came and passed.I was operated on the morning of December 28th and was home on the evening of New Years Eve.
After a couple of months of recovery and missing a few Barnsley matches my life is pretty much back to normal.
I'm due for my first scan which will be followed up by further scans in the next five years.
My final messages are any signs of something not normal ie weeing blood get it checked it could be owt or nowt but in my case it saved my life.Secondly my GP surgery and NHS acted quickly and from being diognosed in October to surgery in December I was treat with empathy and proffesionalism.
Lastly to thomasevans get well soon,if you get the care I had you'll soon be back at Oakwell.
See you all at Bolton tomorrow.COYR.

Read that as mm first and thought 'that's bad but could be worse' and then went back and read it again and thought 'F*** me, that's massive'

    Hope everything stays positive.

    Absolutely brilliant news.
But more so that you have shared this story.
We as men do not talk enough about this.
We need to talk openly if it encourages anyone to get checked out.
    Good effort.

Good to hear you are recovering well and all the best for your future health.

Not wishing to trivialise this in any way, I wonder if I could add a similar story regarding a dog's peeing problem because I know plenty on here have dogs at home. A month or so ago we were looking after a relative's Staffy who is a strong, eight years old bruiser. He always gets excited when you say the magic word that means we are going for a walk. One morning though, at this time, I noticed blood traces on the hardwood floor and they were coming from him. On the walk I took careful notice of his pee sprays and, sure enough, they were a bit pink. We were down to the vets within the hour and the lady vet put her rubber gloves on and gave him a prostate examination. The diagnosis was that an enlarged prostate was causing the bladder problem and she gave us a course of anti-biotics to cure the problem, at least in the short term.

The long term solution though made me wince. He's got to have his crown jewels off some time in the near future. The testicles are linked with the prostate, just as in male humans. We naturally reported all this to his owners who are mulling over whether or not to go for the operation.

So, as we should all realise, it doesn't pay to ignore signs like that. I've never had any blood in my urine but I know that I would be straight in for an appointment if I did see any. I hope we would all do the same.

Many thanks for this come-back, BMW. Thanks for the encouragement of someone who has been through it already successfully. I intend to follow and am pleased that your progress has been so good since the operation. I guess it's sort of hash-tag "Me Too" if you know what I mean.
