Still think Williams makes it too easy for the winger to get the ball in but yes I think Isted should have done a bit more.
We're not too dissimilar me and thee redrum I actually admire you defending Cole time and again, it needs to be done ('beloved' was tongue in cheek, apologies). I'm applying the same ethos in defence of Isted, I don't like players being singled out because all players make mistakes. And all our players have contributed in a positive way to this fantastic season.
Not by me Troff. I'd be defending Collins just the same. I don't like it. This Collins vs Isted vs Walton vs Championship vs League One business we've had this season is bizarre.
When a game doesn’t go the way the supporters want why do we have to play the blame game. The team played well against a good side. Istead has been one of the reasons we’re in the play offs. If he had an error free career he’d be in the Premiership.
Isted should have done better but then again odd passes went astray when the players should have done better. When a 'keeper makes a mistake, it usually costs a goal. We're all human. Overall he had a decent game.
Both hands on it, or a low punch. He palmed it into the centre. But that’s how it goes in football. Cadden blazed 2 over at least - which is the equivalent.
I will have to imagine it - as he isn’t the best keeper we’ve had for years - and it wasn’t really a quality cross either. Too close to the keeper and would have been comfortably in his hands at his chest if his starting position was correct and even without that he should have done better than palm it to where he did. Mind boggles - yes. It boggles over how many errors Harry Isted has to make before the concensus on him changes or when people will at least acknowledge he’s made them! He’s a good league one keeper. I hope we sign him. But he’s made more errors leading to goals this season than Brad Collins, and after his first seven or eight games, in which he was absolutely fantastic, he has at times looked more ropey. He has made errors at his near post on a worryingly consistent basis.
Isted has made errors, every keeper makes errors. You remind me of certain lads I've played 5 a side with over the years, the type who have to look for someone to blame whenever a goal is conceded. Very sad, particularly when the lads have done so well today and got a great result to take back to Oakwell. Get off Isted's back man.
Thats never been a quality cross mate. No excuse whatsoever for a league one keeper to concede from there, either by catching it or knocking it anywhere else, even a corner, than straight back into middle of our box. Collins gets absolutely hammered on for much less. I do like Isted though but he's really really poor at near post. Would love him to sign permanently and keep Collins but tough ask I imagine
Not sure I’d say Isted was better than Collins not much between them. Definitely not better than Adam Davies
Fair enough summary. It's happened, isted needs to dust himself down ready for the next game amd not let it knock his confidence, he's name plenty of good saves too.
I’m not on his back. I joined a conversation somebody else started. I don’t know what the lad’s secret is but he seems immune to criticism on here. Other players get nothing like the same protection. You seem to want to not critique anyone - ok - but others are happy to find fault with everyone else whilst Isted is defended, to the point where even clear errors are claimed not to be errors. Is he solely to blame for us not winning? Of course not. Tedic and Thomas missed good chances. Cole should have got on to the end of Phillip’s ball in (now THAT was a good cross), Cadden missed chances similar to the one he took. Phillips didn’t hit the target all game with a few half chances. Herbie Kane took three too many touches in the final third on at least three or four occasions leading to promising situations fizzling out. Williams should have done a lot more to stop the ball coming in. Kitching could have got in front of Charles, maybe a bit harsh that one as he wasn’t to know where the ball would go given the original path. So no. I’m not looking to find someone to blame for the draw. But the goal we conceded was a goalkeeping error. Why pretend any different? Like I say, and keep saying, I like him. Hope we sign him. He’s pretty good, and if Collins leaves, whichever we all suspect he will, he’ll be a good number one for next season in either division. He isn’t, though, as good as some make out in my eyes, he has made errors. It isn’t unfair to point them out. If he’d had an absolute stormer and kept us in the game I’d be singing his praises. It works both ways. I’m not calling for his head, I personally think Collins might be a better choice - but Duff has made his choice and I’ll support that. He’s certainly not a bad goalkeeper. I hope he doesn’t have a save to make Friday. If he does I hope he’s man of the match. But none of that means he didn’t make a mistake today.
You've just highlighted multiple reasons linked to a fair few players on why we haven't won the game, yet only one has a thread about him, a negative thread criticising him: Isted. So no, he isn't immune from criticism, far from it. Every error he makes is pointed out at the minute and I would argue it's unfair.
