Crystal Palace have offered Wilfred Zaha a deal worth £200,000 per week.

Crystal Palace. £200,000 salary for one player. Every week. He gets £200,000 per week to play for Crystal Palace. Not Real Madrid. Not Barcelona. Not even West bloody Ham, but Crystal Palace. Per week.

Nope, doesn’t matter how many times I say it, I still can’t make it make sense.

Bigger club than us but we have more than matched them over the last 20 years at times. The game is truly gone. EFL is more enjoyable

Obscene amount of money for any footballer.

Good dribbler, scores some decent goals but come on - nobody is worth that for playing football.

This for me, the Premier League is insane, £200k p/w for any player is crazy, it's a league built on money, greed and wealthy dodgy owners.

Not sure if the ins and outs,.But if he goes on a free, they may need to pay 20 mil plus for a replacement, plus wages… or for 2 years, they can keep him and be better off?

Unless they buy a replacement from us for an undisclosed fee…. Or tenth of the price he’s actually worth.

That said, stupid amount to pay, but he may keep them in the greed league….

Not sure this is really big news. Well established Premier League team paying a lot of money to keep their best player. It's no different than say Tottenham paying Kane that really. Especially when you consider Man City are paying academy players upwards of £20k a week.

End of last season Eddie Nketiah signed a new Arsenal deal for 100k a week. If he's worth that, Zaha is worth atleast 500k. Zaha is proven premier league consistent performer, (hate this next bit but kinda true) and basically single-handedly has kept them in prem for last 3 year.

    It's absolutely mental isn't it. Nketiah = 100k a week. M.e.n.t.a.l

As far as F1 goes only the top 5 drivers will earn as much or more than Zaha. There are championship players on more than some of the F1 guys.

Wilfred Zaha won't be in the top 200 footballers in the world, probably not even close. I doubt there are many professions where the 200th best earns £10m a year

I remember Solanke demanding 100k a week from Chelsea when his deal was expiring. he made 2 substitute appearances at that point.

£10m a year, and half of that will go to the taxman. Wonder how many nurses he's paying for.

Pretty much what Simon Jordan said.

It’d cost Palace a min. £20m to replace, and then it’s still a risk as the new player might not work out. This is a safer bet by tying him down, and the money is spaced out through the contract.

A lot of money - but actually it’s a sound investment for now.
