Well done to them.. but I see that neither Woodrow or Walton made the bench last night. Not a great move for those two.
They'll probably have a contract with a promotion clause too. Should they make the Premier League they could be playing golf on even more money should they sit on their contracts.
Hopefully there was a promotion clause in the transfers for Woodrow and morris. Doubt it for Walton though
It wouldn't surprise me. Given his performances for us, if luton offer Isted a new contract. The main stumbling block is. I think he would not want to be a bench warmer if not given a first choice chance. And wages could be an issue.
I was told he didn’t see eye to eye with Kevin Pilkington the goal keeping coach there. Hence the switch. (Did Kevin work with Walton when he was here?)
Possibly. But the ball has always been in Isteds court. Since his contract was running out. He wasn't prepared to be 3rd choice any longer in my view. He's put himself in the shop window with his performances for us. And that may include luton if they've been monitoring him. The first choice at luton could possibly go back to his parent club (forest) . And second choice. James Shea's contract runs out at the same time as Isted's. June 30th this year.
Woodrow's injured. Walton wasn't getting game time here either, so if anything he's now in a squad pushing for promotion to the premier league rather than the championship.
This board cracks me up at times. Luton have a great performance and are one game away from the prem but whats the take. A dig at 2 of our former players One who owes us nothing and who we wanted off our wages when we dropped to L1 and who would almost certainly have been in the squad if not injured. And one who couldnt get a game with us and has moved to try an get a game somewhere else or at least I assume increase his salary Its even a selective dig as he missed Morris
I know a footballer that never played higher than League 1 and managed to buy two houses and move to Ireland.
Cracks me up this forum. Let’s have a dig at former players without justification instead of applauding Luton Town on their wonderful achievement. Jack Walton owed us nothing and would have had no game time here. He went there knowing he was likely to be third choice this season, got himself likely a decent pay rise and probably backs himself to force his way into the squad at some point. Good luck to him. Cauley Woodrow was our captain and did everything he could for us. Didn’t have the greatest of last seasons in a team which was bereft of talent, confidence and without a coach with any tactical or motivational ability, but still left with one of the better overall goalscoring records of forwards we’ve had in recent years, this after often playing deeper and at times truly in midfield. And folk call him out for having been ‘left out’ of Luton’s squad, despite the fact he got a knee injury at Reading and was always struggling to be ready. He’s also had a few injuries this season restricting his chances - though I doubt he’d have started over Morris and Adebayo. It’s bizarre. People also having a dig at Carlton Morris, because he allegedly went golfing when we were playing our last game. So what? The club will have made it perfectly clear they weren’t going to play him to make sure they could sell him - his agent had probably already manufactured the deal to Luton or at least had it on the cards. The club will have sanctioned him having the day off, that’s on the club. He was a good player for us. We sold him. Good luck to him.
Aye, really regretting being part of a Championship play off squad. Twice in the last three years for those two lads.
It was as far as I can see, money can’t buy time back, could have moved somewhere else for good money AND first team football.
