Yes but Saturday morning was a week before the game. The excuse that demand wasn't there doesn't really wash because frankly the club doesnt know how many people looked at the website, saw they had to sit alone and logged straight back off. It can't be denied that the clubs choice significantly reduced the amount of Barnsley fans who could go to the away leg. who knows if that could have made the difference last week. and it's also true that the clubs decision has limited the amount of own fans in on Friday. They are massive own goals, they just are.
Look at Newcastle in this country, or Palace. It's all organised by fan groups, in league with the club. We'll get there though. There are some absolute heroes who follow this club, and go out of their way to help it. I can't speak highly enough of Ben, Gally and Hicksy from the Trust (and this BBS), Lyndsay from the Manx pub, the YouTube channels and many more. It can only get better. Friday night should be class.
One for a very different day. I'll pick it back up with you or anyone who is interested, once the season is done and dusted. Perfectly comfortable with what we've done as a club. Unhappy, unsatisfied with the outcome. But comfy with our part in it. But yeah, rather put that aside and just focus on the important part for the next few days - Friday, and getting that stadium ramped up, amped up and get us to Wembley.
Yes, but you can’t really blame people for waiting to see how the first leg finished. Cost of living crisis and all that. Wouldn’t have been worth opening half the away end to us unless we could get a decent number in there though. A couple of hundred would have looked a bit daft.
Don’t be fooled by what Bolton said. We were never going to get a bigger allocation than the 2000 odd.
Mate, I'm blaming nobody. The state of the country is embarrassing. If anything, I'm proud of our fans for still continuing to spend their hard earned at Barnsley FC. 8,500 season tickets sold for 23/24 with 9 weeks until the season etc. Unreal. Hats off for that loyalty. Much appreciation to all those who've paid £20 to come on Friday and fill every available home seat. And to the 37,000 who'll hopefully get to see us at Wembley. I wasn't blaming anyone. I just don't think it's the time or place to knock the club because they couldn't open a section of the Barry Stand. And unfair to do so without full knowledge of the process. Now, I get it, folk don't get to find out the process, so it's easier to just assume and make up your own narrative. But again, I'd ask why? Why is the first stance for so many who support the club to attack the club they support? I find it weird. Eight years ago I used to do the same, so I get it. But **** all that. All that is asked of everyone from now until the final whistle on Friday is to love, support, cheer for, scream for and actively encourage the team/club. Let's give it everything. From the person setting up the fanzone, to the person putting plastic bags on seats. From the cleaners, to the kids on the kiosks. From the fans to the CEO. Let's show how much this institution means to us all and leave no stone unturned. After that, we can talk all summer.
No. Your point was that people who hadn't decided to spend their hard earned money as quickly as you were fickle. Your attitude was that of someone thinking they're a better fan
Why is the first stance for so many who support the club to attack the club they support? I find it weird. Statement of the day Me too. Never understood it.
I get we are in a cost of living crisis but would the game have been less affordable if we were 3 nil down from the 1st leg?
and just how many of these ‘fans’ that have missed out on tickets have been to a match this season??? You want the club to cater for those who can’t be bothered to turn up for only one match??? Yeah, right. perhaps if they had bothered throughout the season they may have bothered to buy a ticket for this one.,.
Yes I do because I want the club to grow. I want us to encourage new fans. I don't want to be a selfish ***** who says '**** em, I'm a better fan than they are. I want Barnsley all to myself so I can pretend I'm superior '
How many more threads are you going to invade to prove your point. Seriously ST you make up your own narrative as time passes by. You accused me of not caring about the fans. The initial responder you are pointing the finger at. And then the rest that tried to explain the scenario to you. You " people don't want to sit in the west stand. Cos it's a relic.. ". but in fact had ample opportunity to sit elsewhere. It's a relic we get that and I dont think anyone disagrees. You then said before it sold out your next door neighbours wanted to go yet had ample opportunity even after saturdays result to buy online at least. Using an argument we may have lost fans for 70/80 yrs. Maybe so. But if we get to Wembley and the championship will they go to games. If not. Come back to me and tell me why. On my part Been at the forefront of Hoyland reds for 27yrs. With a committee of 10. Run around 1100 coaches. Had a presentation do (as we do every season bar covid) with 220+ members present that encouraged fans especially young uns giving em gifts purchased from the club shop. Our own fanbase increased for Barnsley. More than you could imagine. Yet I don't care about the fans. Ffs. gi thi ed a wobble. I'm not a superfan btw (no such thing in my view and have never heard anyone use that phrase. Only you to try belittle people that have a different view point to yourself and others to big up other fans rather than themselves) but a fan that loves this club as much as anyone else.
He didn't call anybody fickle. He just said that the lack of early demand made it more difficult to make the case for opening up the extra seats. I don't think anybody is critical of people for hedging their bets until after the first leg, but I think a fair few, myself included, were surprised at just how many tickets were available last Friday. Some thought the site was malfunctioning there were so many! I've been critical of the lack of updates from the club around that time between being close to a sell out and the announcement of a sell out, but in terms of the process itself to release extra seats. It it what it is sadly, and hopefully will get some focus in the summer to remedy.
May I just say.. What a ferk1n pantomime this is turning into. Don't forget to shout he's behind you.. it's just a football game not a circus. If you build things up and build things where folk are so hyped up. If thing's don't turn out in reality at full time the way they think they should. Then you may have thousands of people looking for someone to blame... Just saying.. it may be harder than you think to put the Genie back in the bottle if things don't go our way..
