I have a feeling that the piggies down at the piggery are going to do it tonight, I hope I am very wrong but they have have nothing to lose and everything to play for
The big problem their fans have complained about is Moore not having much attacking intent and sitting back on a 1 or 2 goal lead. If they're going into this knowing they need to attack it'll be interesting to see them with the shackles off.
In fairness, it's a harder game for Peterborough to prepare for, as it must be unusual to set up for a game where the aim is not to lose by 4 goals. I remember our game at Oakwell in 2000, after we'd beaten Birmingham 4-0 in the away leg, having a slightly odd vibe to it for similar reasons. Once Dyer scored on the evening we could all relax a little, and losing 1-2 on the night didn't matter too much. I suspect Wednesday will win on the night. The question is how close they can get. If Peterborough can nick a goal, or keep them out for the first half and hour or so, it probably does enough to settle the tie overall. Wednesday have nothing to lose, so you'd expect them to come out firing to get early goals. Ferguson has the trickier job this evening in getting his tactics right for the start of the game. He needs to stop Wednesday picking up any momentum from a fast start to the game, but setting out to defend just invites pressure from the outset.
If Peterborough can't defend a 4 goal lead, they don't deserve to go through. And, I'm sure Darren Fergusson will agree with that.
I think the one big difference is we got our 4-0 win away from home, so were in a position where we were defending a lead at home. I think Peterborough can setup like they would've done for playing them away in the league. Keep their shape and pick them off on the counter. My gut feeling is Wednesday won't make it. Sadly, my gut feeling on tomorrow isn't as rosy a picture.
Ideally, 3-0 to Wednesday. That way it gets their hopes up, but they still don't go through, and it dents the confidence of Posh a little.
If Wednesday score early it will be interesting to see whether Posh get jittery. Personally I think they will nick at least one on the break and so Wednesday don't really have a chance.
Posh have to be positive and not sit back' weds have to attack from the off and hopefully posh will hit them on the break and put it to bed but if they sit back and weds score a couple in the first half the whole dynamic changes.
