At what age did you pass your driving test? Or why didn't you?

Just wondering what age people passed or for those who dont have a licence what is the reason for that? Just didn't want to? Cant afford to? Tried but was never able to pass? No shame or judgement regardless of age or reasons for not, I'm just a nosey bugger

18, my dad taught me, didn't cost a penny apart from the test fee.

    22. Second attempt. Failed the first time due to a silly mistake on an almost faultless test. Second test was a bit of a mess but nothing that was enough to fail.

The tester told me to "slow down, it's only a 30" as I was doing 40 twice and still passed me. Oh and I hit the kerb too on my 3 point turn. So I too would say I was better on my first attempt that I failed than I was when I passed.

Sep 1971 aged 18. A few outings with my Dad and some with my girlfriend in my battered old Mini van (9142 WF). Then half a dozen lessons with BSM in York before passing the test.

I passed first time in Sep '92, and my parents paid for it all as I was 21 that year. That's why I was extra determined not to fail. :)

December last year at the ripe old age of 31.

Only started learning because my other half was nagging me to, started giving me hypothetical scenarios about her getting seriously hurt and that I wouldn't be able to drive her to the hospital.

    Very dramatic but it worked.

24 1st attempt. Had a motorbike on L plates before that. Me and the now wife started learning in the run up to our wedding as we planned on having kids after. 39 now and feeling old thinking back on how long I've been driving.

22 I think, 2nd attempt. Went through a red (one of the red bulbs was out) and still passed, probably because I thought I'd failed, relaxed, and drove perfectly for the rest of the test

21 as I was on my 3rd teaching practice and was sick of lugging books around and catching buses. I did an intensive course as my mates were going on a holiday and wanted me to take £500 spending money (in 2008!) and I thought ‘I could learn to drive for that’. I planned on doing a one week intensive course whilst they were away but the quickest the instructor would do was 3 weeks.
