In my mind every quote is delivered while shovelling doner meat into his mouth, gradually covering the microphone with flecks of garlic mayo
What are you expecting him to say? They were ***** and barely had a chance all evening? I don't really care about the opposition to be honest, I'd rather we focused on ourselves and what a journey it's been.
Even big Dunc Ferguson spoke more sensibly than Evatt lol. One of the Bbc Bolton guest writers tonight was Phil Brown, and straight away he was criticising Micky Duff's programme notes. Duff said amongst other things, that its important for us to win the 1st half... and he was 100% correct wasn't he.
He's that thick i genuinely don't think he realises how comprehensively he's been outcoached tonight. Absolutely taught a lesson in shape, structure and organisation but like the divvy kid on the back row, he just doesn't fully comprehend what's happening
Michael Duff was magnanimous about Bolton in both legs, giving them some credit. In neither match did Ian Evatt give us any credit whatsoever - maybe he should ask himself why they didn’t do themselves justice in either game - they were allowed to! We pressed them into mistakes & they kept trying the same things & getting caught.
Seemed to be like a cross between Simon Davey and that Hale and Pace bouncer character stood on the sidelines. Just glad we've got MD and not him.
He really comes across like an arse doesn’t he. The Bolton fans that I’ve seen commenting on Twitter paint a different picture to him. One thing he said was right though. The free kick that we scored from wasn’t a foul. I said as much to my mate at the time. But he gave it because he hadn’t given the clear foul on Cole a few seconds before. I said to my mate that he should have brought the ball back a few yards and awarded it for the Cole foul, cos if we score from it now Evatt will just be bleating about it afterwards. And guess what!
Since that Cole on Santos foul in the second half was given, the one we scored our goal from was 10000% a foul. Thought for first 70 minutes ref was decent. Went a bit doolally after that though.
It's was such a clear foul. He looked at Cadden then changed direction put his hand out and blocked him off.
I thought the ref was good on the whole. A few theatrics going in which he didn’t buy. From both sides. Although…..Santos all 15 stone of him appeared to collapse in a heap then handled it , that was not a foul and he should have been sent off. Not just for that either, he was persistently fouling all game and the ref seemed to let pretty much all of it go, which was a bit odd. I also thought he let us get away with a lot of niggly time wasting , Herbie Kane morphed into Bradley Collins. Anyway, who cares we’re off to Wenber-leeeee!
Two Ian Evatt classics, courtesy of the BBC: “The biggest disappointment for me was the outcome.” Never “We controlled the game tonight.” Seriously? The team in red shirts did that.
If ever there was proof that he was outthought in this tie, there it is . He just doesn’t know it even happened!
