Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere but just reminding everyone Wembley is a cashless stadium, including all the kiosks.
I have to assume literally no one will arrive anywhere in London, in 2023, with cash only. unless they've just been thawed out from a glacier.
That’s not the point though. If someone has a controlling partner (or parent of an adult still living at home) then whoever has alerts set up/your banking password can see what you’ve been buying. It might not matter so much for a pint at Wembley but it’s becoming too widespread.
Entirely different conversation tbf. My comment - as flippant as it was - was based on an idea that people might think they don't need a card to get by in London. It wasn't a judgment on edge cases and/or domestic abuse sufferers. It wasn't even really a serious comment.
Its sometimes just easier if we have cash if you are setting a limit, not that i have one but it is always a thing i use to do when i was on a low income. i would limit myself to so much for an away day, if i was running low i would draw a little more out but that would be it. if you are using card its just tap tap tap tap, oh **** thats overdraft getting used. Or in one case which i got refused using my card because it was an unexpected transaction (it was shopping in Asda) i couldnt use my card as the bank had blocked it, i had to wait 24 hours for them to unlock it for security reasons. Luckily i had another card but its not the point. If we are having to pay £5 into a bar or something i dont expect them been there with the card machine saying 5er please.
A far lesser issue is if there is a group of you and you want to all put into a kitty for buying rounds that doesnt really work cashless either
