    Some unnecessary anti-gay rhetoric on this thread.
    To link paedophilia with being gay is just crass.

    We may not like him but Schofield has done nothing illegal. Leave the guy alone.

    All relationships be they between straight or gay people are valid and important. No one should be mocked or judged because of their sexuality.

    I don't see anyone being anti gay. Read the links I posted. The kid was 10 and Schofield met him as a patron, therefore Phil lied in his statement about the lad being a teenager when they met.

    Imagine him being a straight bloke married with 2 kids.

    Who then befriends a 12 year old girl. At 15 adds her to his person social media account and gives her a job and begins a physical relationship with her.

    Being gay doesn't excuse him or make him brave.

    It's almost like red taff wants to give him a pass for being gay? Strange behaviour. As you said, a wrong un is a wrong un. Add in the lies and deceit, damage to his family and himself. Guy's a cretin.

    The lad Schofield had a relationship with as a teenager was supposedly 16 when it started physically - and he’d known him since he was 10 years of age. When he was in his fifties.

    So no; suggesting he’s a paedophile is nothing to do with his sexuality or that his ‘partner’ was male.

    It’s because he gained the trust of a very young lad and ended up sleeping with him. Consensual? Likely. Doesn’t mean he didn’t groom him.

    A couple of comments re linking him with Savile. It’s not the same scale. It appears Scofield selected on victim groomed and so far as the info available goes waited till legal age (though we don’t have any proof on that at the moment)
    It’s evil and Scofield is despicable but it’s not the same as the industrial level of abuse Saville inflicted on many victims whilst they were still young children

    How much did the ITV management know? I’m not sure. If they knew about the affair but not the grooming it doesn’t make them as complicit.
    Same goes for Holly. One thing to ignore an affair between apparently consenting adults. I suspect many of that have done that over the years. Different if children are involved. I wonder if Holly distanced herself because she found out in which case I have sympathy for her, or because she thought the story was going to come out in which case her career should be finished too.
    I don’t know on that one.

    There is no way that Schofield will appear on any future ITV programmes despite ITV telling him he has future projects.

    Also very many people in TV have distanced themselves from him.

    Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford saw through him a while ago.

    He has not stood down. ITV have got shut but he is finished.
