Do we reckon Duff will want him back in the squad if we go up?

He started this season in Duff's side and I can't see there being many irresistible offers if we have the extra Championship revenue.

I doubt it. Duff's players have run through brick walls for him this season. Even players like Kane, who didn't used to do that. And yes, there are different types of player, if you offer lorry loads of quality, you're not necessarily judged on work rate. But let's be right, Callum Styles is no Craig Hignett. There's no way I would put Styles ahead of Phillips, Kane or Connell, and I think Benson is a long way in front of him too. And at left wing-back Cadden is a different league.

If Duff is still here, and the possibility of keeping Styles is on the table, I think Duff is a reasonable bloke and will see it as a wipe the slate clean conversation with Callum to see where his head is at. If Styles wanted to return, I'd definitely have him back.

Should be given a clean slate and given the chance to knuckle down and earn a place in the team. I'd say he fits the category of alot of our players in the sense of not quite championship but a very good league 1 player.

That's the reason we sell him!

Millwall have a buy out clause in the loan deal.

Read some reports the fee to trigger it is £1.7million.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat. Quality when at his best. Too much onus was put on him last season. He's still a young un. Him and Mowatt together under Val were a force. Also one of the main reasons we stayed up under Struhber after playing second fiddle to Struhber favourite Ritzmair for far too long.
Form is temporary, class is permanent as the saying goes. The entire side lacked any sort of leadership. He lost his mojo and it took a lot out of him. A new start was the right thing for him in my view. the club was in turmoil and no one envisaged what Duff would do.
Under Duff if given a chance I believe he'd shine again.

I think that’s a release clause in his new contract rather than a specific deal with Millwall. Their manager was suggesting we’d have to accept a lower fee if they were going to sign him

So whats point in the 1.7? We may aswell just have not done it if we're going to accept lower. Millwall may aswell buy him cheaper and then sell him for 1.7mill if other clubs are in for him?

Yes, I think he'd be back for pre-season for Duff to assess.

Beyond that, I think it'd depend on a) what league we're in and b) where Duff sees him playing to determine if there's any longevity in it.

I agree with the idea of giving him another chance, and surely somebody like Duff could work well with him.
He fell apart somewhat last season and so did almost all of the squad, under two garbage managers.
We know how good he can be though under good leadership, so I'd say keep him if we can, maybe for a full season, and see what happens.

I was thinking the same up until recently, just get rid etc.
But now I've thought, what could he do under a much better manager and coaching team, for a full season.
If he does the job on the pitch, the club and the player benefits, and we might get somebody signing him for a decent amount.
A lot of this might hinge on Monday's match as well!.

Unpopular opinion maybe but for me he walks into the team for Kane. Him and Cadden together on the left would be fantastic.

He never played center midfield with mowatt under val it was palmer and mowatt Styles was always wing back. The season after when he got more game time at center midfield he looked lost.

Wouldn't have thought we'd be gettimg much more than half that tbh. Especially if still L1. Also wouldn't have thought the board will be too eager to tip up another 4 million.
Big day tomorrow for a lot of reasons.
