Mmm, this worries me, as I said that if we don’t go up I want Luton to go up, but if we do go up I’d rather it was Coventry. For purely selfish reasons, as I’d have liked to take my lad to an away game at Kenilworth Road before they move. Does this now mean we’re not going up, or did Luton just not keep their side of the bargain?!? Seriously, I’m chuffed for them. I watched that documentary about 9 or 10 years ago and it was shocking what the Luton fans were put through. But since then they have gone from strength to strength and all done the right way. No silly wages, no overspending, no rich, foreign sugar daddy and no parachute payments. Parachute payments need scrapping, by the way. Clubs need to start thinking more than a month ahead when they start dishing stupid contracts out. They get enough money in the Premiership to be able to budget for a potential relegation. Parachute payments just encourage bad habits. It’s really been pissing me off reading all the ******** about their stadium not being good enough too. If they hadn’t gone up, it would have been good enough for Southampton, Leicester, Leeds or Everton to visit in the Championship, so what’s the difference if they are in another division? Luton have a great ground, a proper ground. It’s better than Bournemouth’s, or Wigan’s. Never understood why they had the big washing machine in the corner, mind. But they are going to be patronised beyond belief for the next few months. I can’t remember which club it was where Alex Ferguson said to their manager that he liked the club and hoped they stay up, so the manager of the smaller club said “thanks, I hope you stay up too”!
Congratulations Luton, thoroughly deserved. You’ve been magnificent over the last 7 or 8 seasons, really is the stuff of dreams. You are now my “premier league team”
Congrats, my lad was there in Luton end as half his Mum's family are Luton fans. I'm hoping he does the Wembley double tomorrow!
Wow, thanks for all those comments. I honestly never ever thought we would make the Premier League. Just our previous play off finals v York and Wimbledon and semis v Blackpool and Huddersfield. Watched is in non league (and losing at Braintree and Gateshead (5-0) Southport and many more.) The only fan owned club in a league of multi millionaire and Billionaire owners. Zero fancy players, Morris easily our record and only big signing. A club where the ticket office staff, cleaners and players have their drinks together and socialise. We will put £50mn aside to build our new community facilities and for the town, £10mill to get the pitch ready for the premier and keep in signing hard working, team committed people. No stars, no big spending, no big wages. Wont work so no point. Well be okay next year, enough to stay up if we keep Bell Burke, Osho, Lockyer, Morris, Nkamaba Clark, Adebayo and add half a dozen others we will do great. Good luck tomorrow, win and we could pass each others next season. Hope not
Think your team and team spirit will surprise a few in premiership and I can see your staying up.Good luck
