Swansea is 2 hours drive away from Cheltenham. That might not be any better. Bristol City, Birmingham CIty, Reading, Coventry or West Brom on the other hand...

Yes. I don’t think Ismael had any intention to be at Oakwell beyond his first season, from the day he took over. I don’t get that vibe from Duff. Of course he might get an offer that’s too good to refuse, but I don’t think he’s looking for the exit door in the same way as Ismael

If he was that bothered by geography, why did he come to us in the first place?

I think it depends also on what he thinks the summer is going to bring and what backing he's going to get - if we have our usual fire sale then I'd be off, because his stock is unlikely to get any higher and who needs to spend another autumn scrabbling around trying to gel a new set of strangers here, if you can do it in the Championship? He doesn't strike me as someone who will go just for the sake of a "bigger job", but if things don't look great here and someone can sell him a better opportunity elsewhere then he might well go.

I imagine he’s referring to Styles and Aitchison.

I can’t see him being interested in the Huddersfield job, because like people have said, he’s stayed for a long time at his previous clubs. It’s the Bristol City job that might tempt him, just because he’d be back at his family home, or the Burnley job at some point in the future.

I think he’ll want to continue to build what he’s started here, and have a crack at winning the title.

Aitchison? He was in the team / match day squad until January, then needed time off for personal reasons then moved back up to Scotland. Don’t think he was a problem last summer. Styles and Helik will have been the ones still at the club at the end of august that wanted out. Brittain has also said in an interview that he was pushing for a move, not that he’s been missed.

I agree. His main driver (quite rightly) is his family. My brother in law is a Cheltenham ST and knows a friend of a friend who knows the family....his wife is a cheltenham lass and she dies not want to leave the area.
    The Dig Botherers? No.
Bristol City if Peradon git the boot? Yes.
Swansea? Currently they're my worry as their guy is off to Southampton. or could have gone already.
MD, I think, as we all know, is crucial to our immediate future. The whole of the current set up are in fact. Khaled being key in that also.

Well he did say it was a long term project when he came here. I doubt he wants to commute from Cheltenham to Yorkshire for years and years.

No, but at the same time he wouldn’t have made the move if the travel was an issue. He knows where Barnsley is, and spent much of his career in the north.

I don't think the travel thing will come into the decision otherwise he wouldn't be here. Cheltenham isn't near much really so wherever he goes he will need to travel.
If he leaves us it will be because he seems a chance of working higher up the pyramid and progressing. He will know out budget and out limitations. Would not blame him for moving if the chances comes while his stock is high

Not looking forward to another 6 weeks of threads like this :(

Don't think he'll jump ship after one season - doesn't seem that type of person at all.

Think he'll be here for next season and probably the season after. Then move on up to a top end championship job.. and fair play to him. Cracking manager.

Surprised there hasn’t been a post match interview with Duff on the club website. Unless I’ve missed it?
