He’s 5 years old, I’ve taken him to a few games this year but he really struggled to keep entertained for the full 90 minutes. He likes Barnsley but he’s never been particularly interested. With it been Wembley I wanted him to go, because you never know if or when you’ll ever get to go back there, and he was majorly pissed off as he wanted to go to the super car festival at Meadowhall he’s car mad.

However, yesterday it happened. He caught the bug, he was singing away, draped in the famous red and white. Despite the result he had the best day ever, and as a reds supporter and more importantly a father, it was the proudest moment of my life to see him so engaged by it all.

He shed a tear walking into Wembley. I’m so nervous daddy, it’s really big in here he said. He cried on the way out a little when they scored, but knowing he’s finally caught the bug it makes yesterday so worth it for me.

To put it into context, last night he slept with his Toby tyke teddy, and tonight he’s got his flag laid across his bed, his scarf around him and of course, Toby is there too.

magical feeling, genuinely makes me emotional.

Great stuff. Ive got my daughter a season ticket next season for the first time as she’s loved it so much the last few months. Bizarrely though she didn’t want to go to Wembley as she “just wants to go to Oakwell” Not sure if her Mum has put her off or what it was but then when I got back and saw her she said “well if you’d have taken me we’d have won” (we’d won every game she went to apart from the Peterborough one) Kids eh?

Brilliant. My boy is 9 and has had a ST every year since he was born. It’s been hard graft, no doubt. But this year, it’s all finally clicked. He was absolutely distraught at full time. In a weird way that made me so much prouder than if he hadn’t been. I hugged him hard, wiped his tears away and told him everything was going to be ok. He now says he can’t wait for the new season to start.

Took my eldest (4) to the Bolton game and she absolutely loved it. Sat on my knee all the way through and loved it all. Didn't take her to Wembley as I thought the day would have been too long for her, but I'm glad that you decided to share that with your son. There really isn't anything like seeing the look of wonderment on their faces.

I’ve took my daughter (15) for the last 3 year now and she was in tears at the end, it’s hard to see them like that too

Yep my 11yr old absolutely bawled his eyes out when they scored at the end of extra time but the fans around us had been so lovely to him and as I made a point of telling him there was no shame in that result we played our absolute hearts out and gave everything we could. Just didn’t get that rub of the green.

He then spent the rest of the evening asking any sheff fans in sight around Wembley “do you think you deserved to win today?” and the majority did say no.

    You win or you learn.

You weren't in 136 were you? I put my head in my hands when the goal went in ....... young lad behind us with his Dad was distraught and it really brought the tears to my eyes, I'm not ashamed to say. I held his hand briefly; lifeblood of the club for years to come, and when he is older he will certainly appreciate the good times when they come along.

I think the experience of Box park. Was the highlight for my 2 Granddaughters. 9 and 6. (Funny names I know) . But they loved the whole experience. They both have season tickets. but see it more still, as spending more time with dad. But had his mrs as well with em on this occasion,
    Slowly getting there. :)

Started taking my eldest grandson at the back end of this season. Wembley was his 5th game. My eldest granddaughter was there as well with her dad. Grandson loved it. He got the bug the night we beat Wednesday.

Granddaughter had a good day but as much for the sightseeing we did before heading up to the stadium as for the match. She found it all a bit loud and overwhelming I think.

Grandson now has a ST for next year and is into it. When we got home after the second leg of the semi final, he was in the house first as I was locking the car up. My wife said after she wished I could have seen his face when he came in and said "Grandma, we're going to WEMBLEY!!"

Got my lad whos 9 a season ticket at beginning of season on off chance he might want to go to a few games as he wasnt that into football last summer. A mixture of us doing well and the world cup has turned him into a football obsessive. He's been to every home game, a few aways and all the play off games. We've also been to watch City as he likes John Stones. When he's not watching football games or playing FIFA he's on the drive kicking a ball about and pestering me to go to the park. He was bawling his eyes out on Monday when they scored so had to have a chat about how well they'd done and about how good the day had been despite the result. We've defo got another lifelong fan.

My Son supportered Leeds ( ex family lol) till he was 12 then out of the blue asked if he could support Barnsley, we had season tickets for years,he has a Toby Tyke tattoo all down one side of his leg. He's lived in Australia now for 18 years but before covid they came over and we took my Grandson to Oakwell ages 7 got the full kit. One of the proudest days of my life having 3 generations at Oakwell.
