Apologies if it’s been discussed already, but how good was he at getting things going??? When he dropped that Zombie nation I’ve never seen an end erupt like it did, unbelievable, a songs just come on now that reminded me of Monday. Whilst I’m still hurting from Monday, bit by bit I’m now turning my thoughts to how good this season was and what a day Monday was, irrespective of the result, 12 months ago this forum was as toxic as I’ve known in all my time being on here, members slating each other, members absolutely skating the board (and rightly so in most cases) and fans turning there backs on the club……..fast forward 12 months, the board have imo pulled out all stops to reunite the fans and owners and the feel good factor has come back, although I’m ready for a break from football I’m also itching for it to start again, other than my family and friends football is my passion, it’s what I do and I enjoy doing what I do too……….as much as it kills me to say I’m giving some credit to SWFC for not throwing the towel in during the last 2 games of the playoffs, they were dead and buried and stuck at it. The referee/VAR for things seriously wrong but it’s done with now……… Monday was up there with my time following the reds, all lads together, my best muka, my daughter there and even my parents……. One love…….BFC
Must admit I am not really a fan of DJ's at football matches but the one at Wembley was good. Zombie Nation was great and to see the way our fans took to it whilst the fowls fans looked on completely bemused was one of the highlights of Mondays Wembley experience
Zombie nation is always a song that gets crowds going. Pretty sure ponty end has “chanted” it before too. He seemed to enjoy our fans engaging though. Fair play.
Yeah. I mentioned it in another thread that said we should get a DJ. I think he was called Chris Page
In one of our big finals, albeit perhaps as far back as 2000 or 2006, there were two resident dj’s (one for each end) and I distinctly remember it being the case that the one playing our songs happened by chance to be frum tarn….
Problem with a DJ is that they play music aimed at a specific demographic. Ie those who like DJs or more specifically the kind of djs we saw at Wembley and at Oakwell who are clad in tracksuits with big headphones on. I've got nothing at all against them, they're very talented but Barnsley fans aren't solely that demographic and while you are catering for a minority I feel you're alienating a majority.
I miss the good old days when you went to a game, chanted and cheered. No pre planned choreography like scarf waving, DJs, music during goal celebrations etc.
If I wanted a DJ I would go to a club. They are one of the parts of the modern "matchday experience" I can do without.
I can see the arguments for and against the DJ. But when he played Zombie Nation at extra time half time, me and the boy instinctively started singing and waving our scarves. Then I looked around and 25 thousand other reds were doing exactly the same, creating an unreal noise! It’s one of my highlights of supporting the reds. Anyway I have to go, not for the first time this week I think there’s something in my eye again…..
