I don’t see him fitting into midfield at all, and we play wing backs so I can’t see him there either. Up front with the ball into his feet running at defenders, for me.
Duff will keep him seems to like him. Especially as he does the high press well. Needs some better competition as the 2 loans didn't give that
I'd be sitting him down, giving him the bollocking of his life and finding out whether he is going to try or not and either playing him up front or getting shut of him depending on his responses
Wasn’t duffs preferred formation before this season 4-3-3? Hence the signing of Martin. If that’s the case can Cole fit into one of the wider positions?
Scapegoat for years? He’s only been here for two! You say he could score 40 and people would still question him - based on what? He didn’t. He scored 15 league goals in 45 games. After getting 1 last season. It’s fair game to discuss players on a football discussion board. He has ability but he’s shown at times that he’s capable of being bone idle and workshy. In fact I’d argue that if he had the heart and desire of someone like Norwood, he’d have got a lot more than the fifteen league goals he did score this season. That’s not to say I don’t rate him at all or that I want him to leave particularly - I’d just like to see a bit more graft from him at times.
Didn't you say you also wanted us to sign Max Watters? Do you think Max Watters is a more consistent striker than Devante Cole?
Rubbish mate.....he was top scorer for us, he’s no world beater but to accuse him of not tryiing is beyond belief
Wouldn't point the finger at Cole per se because I feel we haven't had a proper strike partnership. A partner who can feed Cole's attributes and cover for his deficiencies. Flick ons to no one in particular don't help our cause greatly. If each was attuned to his strike partner each would instinctively know where the other was and the best way to bring them in to play. Or maybe I'm expecting too much for League 1 strikers.
If people think Cole is lazy, Watters must be constantly asleep. He's very good at running alongside players to make it look like he's pressing them but never had any intention of trying to actually close the ball down.
