He's not tried in quite a few games. In many others he's worked his ******** off. That's why I'd be sitting him down and getting some answers and basing my decision off that because he's either a great asset or a massive liability and we need one not the other.
You said he didn't try at Wembley I saw none of that he won headers upfront especially 1st half and put himself about. The press from the front which did Wednesday in both league games was ineffective as Darren Moore avoided that and went for a direct hoof to smiths head instead of playing out from the back.
Cole is not good enough. But then again neither are the others. The ones we loaned in weren't good enough either. Occasionally good but not consistently good. Overall not good enough. If we have Norwood and Cole as starting strikers next season we won't be going up.
Whatever mate….not sure you know what you talking abart n don’t think Duff would be aving a non tryer as a starter at Wembley tbh
I thought it was one of his weakest games for a long time where he was far too casual about everything and didn't get stuck in. Something he's done quite a few times. Personally I think it tends to coincide with not playing Norwood because they work so well together.
Opinions. We are all allowed them. I think tedic is bone idle at times too by the way and Watters is a waste of space
I think Cole is a decent squad player in L1 and Duff has him playing as well as he can. I do think we need an upgrade as a regular starter.
I give you tedic who I thought was very poor 1st half on Monday. I thought Cole put himself about well 1st half. When it went down to 10 everyone had to chip in there was a 20 minute spell were we lost our shape and if it wasn't for isted we would have conceded but the only person who I thought was idle was watters when he came on. Obviously duff brought him on to take a pen.
I wouldn't say coe was idle but didn't think he put much effort in either. He just didn't seem to be committing to anything and was half heartedly going hear their players to 'close them down without actually challenging for the ball. Something we've seen from quite a few strikers in the past few years actually including Woodrow last year. For me Norwood and cole should be our backup strikers and we should have two ahead of them in the pecking order. And we don't really need anyone below them. For some reason this year they were the first choice two and then we brought in 3 below them, one to sit in the reserves for 5 months. Had we brought in better we'd be championship now. I do accept though that it's not my cash to be spending
Dunno what to make of this thread..... "Sit him down and give him the bollocking of his life"? Well I don't manage him day to day, Duff does, but I'm pretty sure he's the kind of player who ain't motivated by the bollocking of his life. Duff will know what's best for him and I'll trust in that. "He's not a Championship striker"....... Well I don't know how many of you missed the fact, but we lost the other day, we're a L1 club and he was the top striker in a club who finished 4th in what was widely recognised as the toughest L1 pretty much ever. We're not a Championship club and we can't afford Championship strikers. This thread is as deranged as them lot wanting Moore replaced by Pochettino.
We need competition for places in the striker role. Cole got 15 from open play sam smith at Cambridge scored 13 and everyone is after him. Cole scored more than Lee Gregory. To get a striker with more than 15 league one goals would cost us alot. Money we probably don't have. My opinion was Norwood and Cole were the best 2 strikers we had I wasn't impressed by the 2 loanees. But what do I know I'm just a supporter.
We signed Sam Winnall and Tom Bradshaw from third and fourth tier clubs. They quickly became Championship strikers. It can be done. Even by us.
Well you seem to be saying that Cole would attract a significant transfer fee. In which case we should sell. I suspect however that we are liable to find that everyone is not after him.
Tom bradshaw used to get alot of stick here too. Tap in Tom etc, got 17 last season for Millwall I hoped another club would come in with a big bid for him but he's 30 now so doesn't look likely.
When did I say he would attract a large transfer fee. Sam Smith scored 13 but is out of contract league one clubs who can pay more in wages than us are after him. I suspect if Cole was out of contract this summer he would get another league one club who's aim is promotion no problem. Do you think otherwise?
No in the sense that every League One club's aim is promotion. Somebody would take him on for free. Cole is not crap by any means. But he is not good enough a forward to be part of a team to take us up.
Every league one clubs aim is promotion? I don't think that's true I don't think forest Green Cambridge etc or their fans at the beginning of the season were aiming for promotion. I think he's one of the best 2 forwards we had here this season. Hopefully we can replace the 2 loans with more competitive options. Or oli Shaw can impress.
